Not all war & heartbreak

Chapter 5

When they finally arrived at their destination, after finding 12 more bombs and detonators, they got with their groups and got into place. The building was large and dark, the only noise was a small buzzing coming from the building. Leo silently gave commands to the groups, the first group made up of Leo, Elliott, and 4 other soldiers. Elliott was the first soldier to go in with Leo directly behind him ready to cover him. Winter sniffed the door and when given the ok Elliott kicked it open to reveal a large empty room. He nodded and took a step in, the smell hit him like a ton of bricks, it smelled of mold and rotten cheese. Leo went ahead of Elliott and the soldiers scanned the perimeter, then headed upstairs. When they got up stairs the only thing Elliott hear was a loud bang and yelling. Everything was a blur of gunshots and yelling, dogs barking and foreign languages spoken. That's when time stopped when Elliott saw Leo, he had been shooting at one of the snipers, completely unaware of a second sniper about to take a shot at him. Elliott's body began to move, he didn't even tell it to, it just did. Elliott sprinted towards Leo and shoved him out of the way. It all happened so fast, there was a sharp pain in Elliott's side and he yelled out in agony. "Man down man down cover me!" Leo screamed and three other soldiers ran to take down the snipers. "Elliott hey here Elliott stay with me please. Please please stay with me." Leo begged as Elliott's vision went dark.

When Elliott awoke he was in a large room lined with beds and medical equipment. He tried to sit up but immediately yelled in pain. That's when Leo appeared from a small room and ran to his side. "Elliott! We thought we lost you!" He hugged him and tried to hold back tears. Elliott laughed weakly and laid back down. "Ya know you are one dumb soldier." Leo said smiling at him. "You were going to die." Elliott whispered in a raspy voice. Leo just nodded and stared at Elliott. Then they started to get closer, and closer to each other until Elliott presses his lips agains Leo's. They gently kissed for a bit until a nurse walked in, leo flew across the room and they acted completely normal. "Hello sergeant how are you feeling?" The nurse asked. Elliott nodded and looked towards Leo who had his head in his hands. When the nurse left Leo sighed. "What's wrong Leo?" "I-I can't be in a relationship...I don't want to hurt you." Elliott frowned and shook his head, "you will not hurt me leo." Leo just shook his head, "I-I'm sorry Elliott." Then he walked out. Leaving Elliott lying, helpless and alone.....
