The next morning they got up bright and early. Today was their first mission and they needed to get ready and get some training in before. Leo and Elliott got together then went out to the obstacle course to train. "How much you wanna bet I can beat you?" Leos competitive side was kicking in after he saw Elliott fly through the course. Elliott smirked and looked at him. "Ay' boys get over here!" Elliott yelled across the field to the rest of the men who were doing pull ups. They all ran over, "we're gonna race. Better place your bets now." Leo said, looking at Elliott the whole time. The boys cheered and pulled out cash. People betting on Elliott placed their money in Leo's shirt, and the ones betting on Leo placed the money in Elliott's shirt. They gathered around as Elliott and Leo lines up at the beginning. Elliott's friend kai stood next to them. "Ready...go!" He yelled. They were off, flying through the ropes and sprinting through the tires. When they neared the end Elliott was in the lead. His small body doing him good for once in his life as he ran past kai, just 1 second ahead. The men cheered and lifted him. Leo smiled and shook his hand, "good job." Elliott thanked him, then it was time to go. They got dressed in their uniforms and Elliott picked up his gun and tied winters leash around his waist. "Men! We will be accompanying troop 6 on a risky mission. The place is rigged with bombs so we're counting on Elliot and winter to get us in. No pressure." Elliott nodded. "We've received information that the people in that building are planning to assassinate 2 nearby towns so everyone in that building dies. No exceptions. Am I clear!" Leo yelled. "Yes sir!" Everyone yelled back at once and saluted.

The ride there was terrifying, there was so much tension and it was completely silent. There were other dogs there too who would help to assist Elliott, but he had been told he was in charge on account that the commander was assisting on another mission. Elliott knew all the dogs and handlers well as he had trained with them, all except one, he knew the dog but not the handler. There was his close friend Emily and her dog cadet who specializes in C4, shea and her dog Harrison, and Marcus and his dog echo. Then there was the stranger and his dog forty. There were a lot of k-9's assisting with this mission, which made Elliot uneasy because there was usually only two dogs needed on the larger missions. Which means this one must be huge. He took a deep breath, Leo put a hand on his leg for comfort as Elliott was shaking. He was terrified. "It's ok." Leo whispered in his ear. Leo's soothing voice helped Elliott pull himself together, just in time too because they pulled over in the middle of a vast dessert. "You know what to do." Leo whispered in Elliott's ear. Elliott nodded and got up, signaling for the K-9 units to do the same. They stepped out of the jeeps and began walking, the trucks following behind. "Ok winter. I need you to find the bombs ok?" Elliott kneeled down and looked into her eyes. They all spread out, Elliott directly in front of all the trucks. He could feel his heart pounding. It was loud, it filled his ears. He was shaking, hard. He was almost in tears and gave his undivided attention to the live bomb-detector at the end of his leash. Winters nose was to the ground, only looking up periodically to make sure she wasn't going to run into something. When she stopped Elliott's heart did too. Winter sat down and placed her paw on Elliott's boot. Elliott's hand shot up into the air and his breathing became erratic. Leo saw his hand in the air and put his up too, signaling for everything to stop. It was silent, the only sounds was the quiet whimper in winter and the loud breathing of the soldiers. This could go very bad very fast....
