Chapter 16

After marriage Leo and Elliott lived a pretty mediocre life. Elliott was still a soldier but was now commander, Leo got a job at a nearby police station and his partner became a close family friend. They had rescued another dog in addition to summer and hero, his name was king. Their life was pretty good, they had decided that they were ready to adopt kids when Elliott finally brought it up a year after they had been married.

"Leo?" Elliott came down the stairs. Leo lifted his head from his laptop. "Yes love?" Elliott leaned over him and kissed his lips chastely. "I want kids." He said. Leo's eyes went wide and he nodded slowly. "Sooo you want to adopt then?" Elliott nodded excitedly. Leo smiled, "I guess ide be ok with that." Elliott grinned and skipped away.

Today was the day! They were going to the adoption agency to see if they qualified to adopt a baby. They decided a week ago that they wanted a kid younger than 5 so they could raise them on their own. "C'mon baby we're leaving!" Leo's voice echoed through the house. Elliott ran down the stairs and crashed into Leo. They both giggled and Elliott helped Leo up, as Leo still has a limp from his injuries. "Let's go get a baby!" Elliott yelled as he snatched the keys from Leo's hand and ran out to the car. Leo groaned and limped out to the car to see Elliott bouncing in his seat.

When they finally arrived at the adoption agency they walked in, Elliott's smile was wide and his eyes were bright. "Hello May I help you?" A kind lady asked as she walked through a doorway holding a small child with deep brown eyes and black hair. "Yes we are looking to adopt a child under the age of 5." Leo said. The lady nodded, "right this way." She beckoned for them to follow her to the back room where there were several young children playing with blocks or sleeping. A little girl ran up to Elliott, "hello I'm Sophia!" She waved. "Hi I'm elliott." Elliott introduced and followed her throughout the room to play. Leo talked with the woman about several different children. "This is Liam, he is 9 months and has a foster family who drops him off here everyday in hopes to get him adopted. They say he's very quiet and doesn't cry much, and he loves carrots. This is Ella she is 4 years and she has an identical twin sister named rose. If you adopt her you will have to adopt rose as well." She continued, introducing all the children in the room. Leo kept his eye on a small girl with long blond hair, she is blind and has pale blue eyes. When Elliott came back next to Leo Elliott told him he had his eye on the same girl. "We want her." Elliott said, pointing to the young girl distracted by her coloring page. "Ah that's Kelli, she is blind and may be a bit of a challenge because I think she may have autism." Leo nodded and looked towards Elliott who was still sure he wanted her. "We want her." Leo nodded. The woman beamed and grabbed them the papers....
