After a little while of rosy ears and cheeks due to the freezing cold weather that Seth was somehow used to, We went inside his manor. Apparently Kallias didn't know I was there so he seemed surprised.
"Sorry Kal, i forgot to tell you, Nova here dropped by to see Seth. Will you be staying for dinner?" I looked at Seth, I couldn't exactly read his eyes, but I could read his pulse since I was still holding his arm. It had sped up which meant I had a 50/50 chance of making the right choice.
"Uh, sure. I don't mind staying, I'll tell Bex." Kallias flashed what seemed like a wince-forced-smile thing and Viviane charmed me with a delightful smile. I looked up at Seth and his eyes flickered with what appeared to be gratification. He led me over to a dinner table that seated about fifteen people.
Kallias snapped his fingers and the table filled with meats and vegetables I'd only seen in my moms memories. Wow was my instant thought. Viviane started grabbing things off of trays, so did Seth and Kallias. I hesitated for a bit. "Go ahead, grab something. We won't judge what you eat." Viviane chimed. "Ok, thanks." I replied and grabbed a piece of steak and roasted vegetables.
I struggled with my knife and fork. At my house I had always either at with my hands or in my room where no one could see me. Mom and Dad had raised Bex and I that way. "Having trouble?" Seth looked over at me and said. "Um yea, just a little. The only knifes I've ever really used are my Illyrian blades and they're sharp enough to cut the plate and table in half. By the way, I've never had etiquette classes." I choked nervously.
Kallias rumbled a slight laugh, Viviane cackled, Seth chuckled. "Here, I'll cut it for you." He took my plate and sat it in front of him. He took my knife out of my hand and cut it for me, I felt ridiculous. He handed me my plate back and everyone continued eating. "Nova, what's been going on in your court?" Kallias had asked me to start conversation.
"Oh, everything's been going smooth. I've spent most of my time at the Library, I'll have to take you to see it sometime Seth, Umm, Bex and I have been in the steppes training with the Legions and mom and dad have been running the court." Kallias nodded, "Sounds like me, always running the court." Viviane looked offended, "Hey! We spend time together. It's not alllllll you do!" She drug out the word 'all'.
Once the dinner was over, Kallias and Viviane went off somewhere. Leaving me and Seth in the living room. "Would umm- you like to come to my court for a bit. I want to show you the view from my roof." His eyes lit up, "Of course, I'd love to see that." I grabbed his hand and led him to the door, "Have you ever flown?" He shook his head, "Would you mind flying?" He shrugged his shoulders. "I don't mind. Can you pack me?" I laughed and shook my head, "Sure I can, I'm one of our strongest illyrians."
We went out on the front porch and I grabbed his hand and held them tight. Both of my parents packed me when I was first learning to fly. He struggled for a second. "Are you ready? Brace yourself." I launched into the sky and he tightened up. "Relax, you won't fall." He was looking down, a hug smile laid on his face. "I've never seen my court from this angle, it's beautiful." I didn't reply, just flew through the barrier of the courts.
We were in the summer court now. It got warm with this coat of his on. He looked all around. It seemed he was paying attention to every single detail of the land below us. Once we passed through the barrier once more, we were in the Night court, my home. I took him to Velaris and flew him onto the roof, right above my room. "Your Court is beautiful. The stars are magnificent." I blushed. "Thanks, I enjoy living here." He sat down, "I bet you do." We sat in silence for a little while. When we started talking again, We were so caught up in conversation that I didn't hear my Dad come onto the roof. "Hey Nova, I see you have a friend, Evening Seth."
