Nova's P.O.V
Every now and then I go up to the steppes with Cassian and conduct training. Most of the time we swore fight, but once I got really good at that we started with Archery and getting out of situations where I was pinned up. If Cassian wasn't so large maybe I would have a better chance at getting free half the time.
"If you have a end up getting free from me you can take down just about anyone."
"I know that, it's just I'm having a hard time reaching my dagger because your arm is blocking the path."
"Don't always go for the dagger. Use your head and hit mine or spit to distract me. Anything like that will work."
I tried doing what he asked. He had both of my arms next to my head and his knee was digging in my gut causing the air to exit my body. Gasping for air only made me waste more time, so I ended up spitting in his eye and flipping us over, drawing my dagger from my boot and holding it to his throat.
"You finally did it, Nov. it only took around sixteen tries."
I rolled my eyes and pushed off of him. Then went over to the table to polish my dagger. In these leathers, there is about five places I could put a weapon. Which supported the fact that I always carried around two daggers. One in my boot and one on my arm. I also had a sword down my back, and two trench knives on both my hips. Cassian was always one to suggest new places to hide weapons.
"You do know that your parents are discussing ways to be more firm on you. They discussed last night that at the next week y'all are in the High Lord House they are going to make you wear dresses."
"Holy shit, really? I fucking hate dresses."
"I know you do, which is why I wanted to tell you now."
Right away i began thinking of places I could hide weapons in a dress and I couldn't really think of any. "Where would I hide weapons if I'm in a dress?"
"There are always dagger straps that you can wear on your shins, but that might be too obvious. Damn."
"I was just thinking, when I do my hair, Nuala always put it in a wrap on top of my head. Would it be possible to hide a push dagger in there?"
"I'm not sure it would work, but we could always give it a try."
"We could always show them down the front of my dress. I'm not sure many people would be looking down there anyway."
"That's a good idea. We will try that when we get back to the house."
The rest of the after noon was spent on Archery. Cass had called mom down because she is skilled- and I mean skilled- with a bow. The target was pretty far away and I was always just a little bit off from hitting it.
"You're to thick on your feet. Lighten up and don't think. Keep both eyes open and let the arrow fly." Mom was really sounded like she knew everything.
"I thought I was already to light, now I have to go even lighter?"
"Yes, now do it."
Doing what she asked, I lightened up even more on my feet and kept both of my eyes open. Without another thought, I fired the arrow and it went straight down the middle of the target. I was jumping and throwing my arms up in victory. Mom was chuckling and Cassian smirked with the look that said mhm, I taught her that, even though he didn't.
"Next time we are out here, we're working on your magic." Cassian told. I had developed every power from my mom and so did Bex. The healers didn't think that was possible but apparently it was. However I did develop a skill that only i had and that was sensing and turning into people's biggest fear. We discover that one day when Bex was getting on my nerves around age eight and I turned into a swarm of wasps. Very traumatizing, but cool.
========
We went back to the house and had dinner. Mom had brought out to dad how good I had gotten at the Bow and he congratulated me. Bex was in my head saying, I still bet I could beat you. I laughed out loud at the table, mom and everyone looked at me, so I kicked Bex under the table and he laughed too. The others turned back to their conversations, but I wasn't finished with Bex, Next time we are there, I'll take you into the ring and we'll see how well you do.
Not much later the dinner was over and I went to my chambers. Bex had came into my room without knocking like he usually does. He was wearing the same color pjs as me. I don't know what it was but we had the same taste in everything. Maybe it came with being twins. He walked over and sat on my bed with me and pulled out a thing of cards, "You up to play? I bet I'll win." Oh he's in over his head. "Bring it on, Pansy."
