"Erik, what the heck was that about?!" Sapphira growled. He looked at her and smiled slyly. "Oh, nothing, your highness," he said sarcastically and quietly. She grabbed him by the shirt and got right in his face. "What did you just say to me?" she snarled. He flinched. "N-nothing, Sapphira..." he whimpered, looking away. "That's what I thought. Now get out of my sight," she snarled low, letting go of him and watched as he ran away. "Stupid omega... why did I even let him join?" she growled softly, walking away.
After that day, Sapphira had been keeping a weary eye on Erik. He'd been acting weird since that day. He was kind of clingy to Sapphira and would always say "hi" to her or compliment her when he'd see her. He even brought her food, even though he wasn't allowed to hunt because of his rank. Sometimes when Komatz would come to or by her, Erik would bare his fangs at him and challenge him to his leadership. But Komatz would never return the challenge, so Erik could not fight him, which made him mad.
Sapphira couldn't take the clinginess anymore, so she came up with a plan and decided to call Saphire and tell her the plan. "Hey, Saphire... you busy right now? I need to talk with you about something," she said quietly. "No, I'm not busy! Go ahead," Saphire said. Sapphira explained the whole plan to her. "So, what do you think?" Sapphira asked. There was a pause. "I love it!" Saphire said happily. "When should we put it into action?" Sapphira said, mischievously. "Maybe tomorrow... so that we can plan a bit more and tell our packs what's going on," Saphire said. "Good idea," Sapphira agreed. The remainder of the day was spent planning and spreading the word.
Sapphira was up early the next morning to get ready for the day. She did a bold makeup look and put her hair up into a tight bun. She went to go put on a dress, but it was too tight. "Stupid pregnancy..." she grumbled to herself. She found a bigger dress to wear. She quickly texted Saphire to tell her to be ready.
"You ready, Saphire?"
"Yup!"
"Ok. Here we go!"
She went to the high rock and called to her pack for a pack meeting.
"Everyone! I have an important announcement to make! Erik, please come forth. Erik is going to be the new beta of the Red Fang Pack!" she said loudly to the pack. Erik was stunned. "M-me?" he stuttered. "Yes you!" she said, laughing. "Oh thank you!!" he said happily. "But!" she said suddenly. "But what?" he said, confused. "To become beta right away, you must commit a dangerous act..." she said slowly. "Are you up to the challenge?" she asked. "Anything for my alpha! What is it?" he asked eagerly. "You must kill one leader from the Blood Moon Pack!" she said loudly. Erik stared at her for a moment. "Alright... I'll do it!" he said confidently. "Go now! You must act immediately! Good luck, Erik," she said. Erik was off.
Sapphira then texted Saphire.
"Alright, he's on his way."
"Perfect! I'm ready."
"North side?"
"Yup!"
"Ok! Talk in a bit!"
She laughed to herself. "This is almost too good," she thought, laughing.
Erik was running as fast as he could to the river, remembering something that Sapphira had told him a while ago. "They don't expect attacks from the North, so that's going to be the best way to go." He swam across the river, and ran to the North side of the Blood Moon territory. He had gone to the far end, when he saw Saphire there, waiting for him. He bared his teeth at her.
Bad decision.
