Flattery will get you anywhere
Or so they often say
It's just a way to show you care
At the end of a long day
When you fill my head with uplifting thoughts
It makes me love you that much more
With all the compliments you've brought
My feelings for you will soar
Some think it's vain for one to seek
Words of encouragement
But it's better than being idly meek
Hurt by others' torment
It's just a way to raise my spirit
After getting no appreciation
It's so refreshing when I hear it
Without any hesitation
So let me know the trait
That you feel I carry best
And then I can relate
Why you are better than the rest
