Freedom

Seeking escape from the clutches that bind me
Though I know that their purpose is honest and true
I just want to place this old life behind me
It's time to go out and start over anew

It's not that I don't love those who held on so tight
They've taught me everything I need to begin
It's just that I'm ready to jump and take flight
You must suffer loss before you can win

After so many dreams of running away
I worked hard to always do the right thing
Now that I'm done here, nothing can make me stay
It's time for those fantasies and dreams to take wing

I could stay forever, take the easy way out
But surely I'd find myself longing for more
For there's no excitement in no risk and no doubt
Which is why I don't hesitate to walk out the door

If you think I'm making the mistake of my life
You may speak the truth, but what do I care?
To have everything I desire without any strife
Would make me dull and uninteresting if I stayed there

So you see, it was my fate to run far and away
With a voice known as freedom calling to me
Even if I fail, at least now I can say
That I tried every path to be all I could be
