Seeking escape from the clutches that bind me
Though I know that their purpose is honest and true
I just want to place this old life behind me
It's time to go out and start over anewIt's not that I don't love those who held on so tight
They've taught me everything I need to begin
It's just that I'm ready to jump and take flight
You must suffer loss before you can winAfter so many dreams of running away
I worked hard to always do the right thing
Now that I'm done here, nothing can make me stay
It's time for those fantasies and dreams to take wingI could stay forever, take the easy way out
But surely I'd find myself longing for more
For there's no excitement in no risk and no doubt
Which is why I don't hesitate to walk out the doorIf you think I'm making the mistake of my life
You may speak the truth, but what do I care?
To have everything I desire without any strife
Would make me dull and uninteresting if I stayed thereSo you see, it was my fate to run far and away
With a voice known as freedom calling to me
Even if I fail, at least now I can say
That I tried every path to be all I could be
