I was just a dreamer when you found me
In a world of make believe
Dressed as a princess playing pretend
Innocent and naïve

                          
On Valentine's Day, I learned of your princess
A beautiful mermaid, loyal and true
I thought it was only right
For a real princess to be worthy of you

                          
As months passed, you made the magic seem so real
The skilled pretender that you were
Even though I couldn't claim your love
My faith in you would never deter

                          
I decided to make my home in your kingdom
I went to meet you and your friends at a bar
You were drunk when I asked for your number
When I thought you were the reason for the teardrops on my guitar

                          
Magic isn't real in this world
Fairy tales are just pretend
It's nice to have the chance to dream
But reality will always get you in the end

                          
Your princess left you and I wanted to help
But you pushed me away with your sweet lies
Now I see the truth behind your make believe
She deserves better and so do I
