Year 1957- 15 years old-
Birmingham, Alabama"Why did we move here again?" Normani asked her parents as I watched the new city passed us by. We were never really told why we were moving. They said they would tell us but we were to busy packing. Ashelee and Arielle aren't coming tho. They've both moved out and are now sharing an apartment in Chicago. Plus they're in college. So nobody really expected them to pack up and leave. This whole move is honestly bittersweet. "Lots of the jobs were firing people. That includes your mother and I. Same with the Jauregui's and Templeweed's." My uncle said. Who I've started calling dad now. Also calling my aunt mom.
I mean they are more my parents now. I love my mom. I really do but I haven't seen her in so long. I'm starting to forget what she looks like. Or sound like. I really miss her. "So that's why Camila and Emily families are moving too." The fact that my best friends are moving with us makes this whole thing better. Our families have gotten close over the years. But don't get me wrong tho. This is still bittersweet to me.
We're moving to the south. I've heard horror stories. The kind that'll keep you up at night. "Listen girls I know this is a big move. But things are have been rough these couple of months. Hopefully this move and new job goes like I hope it will." He told us. "I know dad. I understand why we left. Im not mad. Just going to miss all of my friends." Mani said.
"How about you Y/n?" He asked. I averted my eyes from the window to him. He glanced at me and smiled. "I'm ok. My best friends will be living in the same house as me so I'm good. Besides there's really nothing to be excited for." I said. "Why do you say that?" My aunt asked. "Come on ma. We moved from one violent place to another. Hell this is probably even more violent. We got the Klan to worry bout now." I said. "Y/n that's enough." She warned me. "I'm just telling it how it is. It's best to go in knowing what's ahead. Not go in with blind eyes." I told her.
Normani frowned at me. "Look I'm not trying to scare anyone. Y'all know I don't like to sugarcoat anything. I'll be more careful how I word things and be less negative." I said. "Thank you baby. But it's okay. Just remember what I told you two. Stick together like before. All of you." She told Mani and I. "Yes ma'am." We said. We finally pulled up to our new house. It looked nice from the outside. "Now... lets check out the house."
Normani and I smiled and quickly climbed out. We were met with our friends running up to us. "Can you believe we're actually living together in the same house?" Camila asked excitedly. "I'm so excited. This is going to be great." I said. "And we'll be sharing rooms. Uhh we can share clothes." Emily said. "Well except for Y/n. She's unnatural tall." Lauren said as she passed by us with Lauren. "Your just mad because you all stopped growing and can't reach the top shelf." She threw her middle finger up as they walked into the house. Mrs Jauregui going after the young girl glaring holes.
"Lauren being ungodly!" My best friends and I shouted. We looked at each other and started laughing. We wrapped our arms around each other and walked into the house.
A/n~what y'all think going to happen? I got new ideas for this.
