Cas found himself back on solid, soft, comfy, earth and blinked his eyes open. He was surrounded by pillows and soft blankets, he was in bed. He never slept, how had this happened. It was all a horrific dream and none of it was real. Not even Dean's feelings for him.
Back to reality I guess.
He swept the linen sheets out of his way and stumbled out of bed. He was in crappy motel room he had been staying in in his dream, the same drab curtains and sheets, the same disgusting toilet and shower-not that he used them.
Throwing on his trenchcoat he headed for the door, but something stopped him as he reached for the handle. He pulled out his phone and called Dean.
"Cas?"
"Hi Dean"
"Man! It's good to hear from you"
"You too"
"So what's this about eh?"
"I was just wondering. Have you got any cases that you might need help with?"
"Well there is a Djinn we're looking into, if you wanna tag along"
"Where are you?"
"Blackridge Motel, Mississippi, Room 103"
"Ok"
Cas hung up the phone and focused on the destination, he was there in a few seconds. A familiar figure stared out of the window, his back to Cas. Cas took the time to admire Dean, he did this a lot when he wasn't paying attention.
God, what I would give to touch that. To hold it and call it mine. To be between those thi-
"Cas!!"
Cas snapped out of his thoughts and locked eyes with Dean, who was evidently confused.
"You blanked out for a moment there"
"Sorry"
"Anyway, as i was saying, you and Sam take the warehouse and I'll check the barn."
Barn. The barn? He can't go alone!
"No!" Dean was taken aback by the sharpness of Cas' tone.
"I mean. I will take the barn" he said a little softer
"OK then?"They parted ways and set off an hour later. The weather was setting in for a storm. A bad one, like the one in Cas' dream. In fact so far, everything had somehow fit his dream, down to the colour Flannel Dean was wearing.
Cas, as he had guessed, was faced with the Djinn in the barn. She was exactly the same, but the scene was different, this time Dean was safe. At least Cas thought so, until he heard the loud purr of the impala outside.
Oh no.
The Djinn lunged at him while he was distracted and the tousled, rolling around like animals until Cas managed to get hold of her arm and threw her across the space. The barn doors slid open and in sauntered Dean, safe and sound. Cas smiled warmly at Dean and started walking towards him. Dean's eyes widened and he suddenly sprung at Cas.
They fell together and Dean landed on top on Cas, he rolled off and thudded to the floor.
Cas stared down in horror at the blood pooling around Dean, an angel blade protruding from his chest.
Sam came sprinting in and leapt at the Djinn, tackling her to the ground.
A fight ensued behind him, but all Cas could focus on was Dean.
"No Dean. Why did you do that you idiot"
"It- would have- killed you"
"So?! At least you would have been fine."
"I couldn't- let - that- happen" Dean choked out through rivers of blood.
"Oh for god sake why not"
"Because i- i- I -l-lo-love you...." His head lolled back and hit the floor. Cas couldn't move, couldn't think. It wasn't a dream this time. What was he supposed to do?Cas found himself back in his crappy, yet comfy bed in the motel, yet again.
Was it a dream or did that all actually happen yesterday?
