"Tragic really....what happend to them"
"What happened" Cas asked, eyes wide, heart thumping rapidly in his chest.
"Well.... Their friend Castiel disappeared one day. The brothers searched for months, when Sal.. Simon"
"Sam" Cas corrected.
"Yeah Sam. He gave up the search and D-Dean?" Cas nodded, letting Chris kiw he got the name right. "Dean got mad, he wasn't gonna give up, so he dropped off the grid and hasn't been since. I guess Castiel was like a brother."
Cas stifled a small laugh. "Oh yeah they were close"
"Wait, did you know them?"
"I am Castiel."
"Whatever" Liane laughed. "He was an angel. No offence but I don't think an angel would be hitching a ride with two total strangers."
"I lost my wings. But that's not the point. I need to find them."
"If you can prove that you are Castiel, I will take you straight to Sam. We are freinds, I know where he lives."
"I- Uh..... How can I prove that?"
"I don't know. Think of something" Chris laughed.
"Um...... Can you ring Sam?"
"Maybe"
"Ask him to think of a question that only I would know"
"Fine. I will"
They waited for Sam's response. They ended up texting instead of a call, as he was often busy apparently.
"What did you buy for Dean on your last birthday together?" Liane finally said.
"A mini juke box with his favourite tapes, and..... Um...oh yeah, I bought us all iron rings, however Dean's had a secret message on the inside."
"Oh my god, you really are him. Aren't you?"
"Yes. Can you take me to him now?"
"Yeah I guess."
Liane started up the car.
"My I ask. What was the message?"
"I would raise you from hell a thousand times." Cas said tonelessly.
"That's really sweet, although it sounds like something you would say to....." Chris gasped.
"You two were dating!! That's why you sniggered at my comment about you being like a brother."
Cas blushed and covered his face.
"That explains a lot actually." Liane laughed.
"We weren't just dating. We were on love. We even had a cabin together in lenexa"
"Oh, I'm so sorry. This must be really hard for you."
"Harder for him I imagine" Chris said."Good luck." Chris and Liane waved Cas off as he stepped up to the porch of a small two story in Lawrence.
Cas waved and knocked on the door. He heard so many voices from inside. It was like a stampede.
A small child opened the door. He was about 7, freckles and green eyes, but his hair was bright blonde and he was very small for his age.
"Paps. Its the weird trench coat man"
He called back into the house and there was a loud crash and lots of shuffling.
Sam suddenly had his arms wrapped around Cas, he was crying and muttering something about missing him. Cas didn't hear his words however, he was too shocked by what Sam looked like. His hair was still long and poofy, however it was streaked with Grey, and he had wrinkles, his eyes were less colourful and he was thinner, more frail.
"Sam....... Your so..."
"Old.. Yeah that's what happens."
Sam ushered Cas into the lounge, where the voices ahd come from.
"This is Eileen. My wife. This is Maura, our daughter, her husband Emile, and their sons Elliot and Lucas" Elliott was the child who had opened the door to him.
"This is our son Kevin, his husband Nicholas and their daughter May"
"You have such a lovely family" Cas said as he slumped against the wall and started sliding to the floor.
He was caught by a pair of arms to big to be Sam's. When he woke, he was in an armchair with 9 worried faces looking at him.
"Are you ok Cas?" Sam said.
"I think it's all a bit much for him" Kevin smiled kindly.
"I think he's hungry.... I'll fetch takeout" Emile said as he got up. He had a faint accent, French- Cas suspected."And you haven't gone to look for Dean?" Cas said accusingly.
"No. He contacts me once a year and we talk for hours and he convinces me to leave him be every time."
"But he never told you where he was?"
"No and he uses a burner that I cant trace every time. However..."
"Yes?" Cas said eagerly.
"He always expected you to come back. He said he was waiting. He said you would know where he was."
"But how could I kn-" Cas leapt up from the chair suddenly.
"Do you have a vehicle I may borrow?"
"Yes. I'm coming with you though. I want to see my brother."
"NO!" Cas shouted and then realised he was being harsh. "No, let me speak to him first, then I will text you his location."
"Fine" Sam pouted and hugged Cas goodbye, dropping the keys in his hand.
