(Max's POV)
The party consists of 5 people, and I'm not one of them. There's Mike, who you all know by now is a total asshole. He's really popular, even though he was a total loser in middle school. Lucas, he's also popular but he isn't an asshole about it. He is also my best friend, him and I used to date but decided to break things off because I didn't feel that way about him, he took it very well and we are closer than ever. Dustin, who is my other my best friend, is like a brother to me. Will, who is Jane's step brother and a really nice, shy kid. Then there's Jane, the most gorgeous girl I have ever met. All I will ever be to her is "that girl Dustin and Lucas hang out with". I stay up for hours on end thinking about her, and what life would be like if she would just give me a chance. Jane probably doesn't think of me at all though, especially not romantically.
