Harry's P.O.V
I stood outside of the room, speaking on the phone; reassuring Niall that Spring was fine and she'd be completely fine at the end of the operation. I noticed a nurse with what seemed like a dosage of some medicine in a tiny measuring cup and she made her way towards me to her room. I swiftly sent my friend away and walked in the room as the woman walked in behind me. My figure towered over hers as I moved over so she could do her job."Alright. This is just some juice to make you feel relaxed before you go under." The nurse stated.
I watched Spring attentively as she sat up in the bed. Drinking the contents in the cup quickly swallowing with a scrunched look on her face before she laid back down slowly, closing her eyes as a way to calm herself. I examined the rise and fall of her chest to reassure myself that she would be okay. She's strong. She always gets through it. I made my way to her bedside. Her face was filled with peace as she blinked once, twice.
"I'm here. I'm right here." I caressed her cheek and she smiled against my hand, holding onto my wrist and rubbing it with the pad of her thumb as her way of saying, 'I know you are, hon.' I smiled. That's what she always called me and it made me feel something. I couldn't pick out what it was. I took my hand away from her cheek, it was now cold from the void of her presence close.
Another doctor entered the room, clad in a green surgeon suit and a white coat along with a clipboard in his hand.
"Spring Evermore?"
Her family nodded and murmured 'yes' before the man nodded. Laying the clipboard at the foot of the bed, confirming all medical information. The man heightened the bed before excusing himself past me, bringing up the railings on both sides of the bed before wheeling the bed out of the room swiftly.
A nurse came into the room handing Mrs Evermore a card saying where we could go to wait for Spring.
Spring's family suggested we go to the hospital cafeteria to grab a bite and I comply, not really caring what they did. Only letting the girl consume my thoughts.
She's gonna be fine.
Relax, dude.
"Harry? Are you alright?" Nia questioned me.
"Yeah I'm alright." I answer dismissively.
I follow them to the cafeteria and sustain from not getting anything to eat so I don't seem upset or anything because genuinely I loved Spring's family, of course her father made me nervous by flashing me an intense glare every now and then, but they were nice people. To be safe I ordered a black coffee and a cookie, and sat in a booth with them and tuned out their words.
What if her heart stops or something goes wrong?
She's going to be fine, Harry. She's strong, it's one of the reasons you admire her so much. I shut my eyes, letting the smoke from the coffee hit my face, focusing on my breathing.
"So, Henry." Mr Evermore speaks up.
I sigh, chuckling, "Sir, it's Harry." I say with a toothy smile.
The man sneered at my demeanor, dismissing my statement swiftly.
"How did you and my daughter meet?"
I clear my throat, "We have journalism together." I explain briefly.
"How old are you, son?" He said with an eyebrow quirked up, challenging me.
"I'm seventeen, sir." I answered swiftly.
I wasn't buying this intimidating father figure game, although it was quite cute. The middle aged man was concerned for his youngest daughter who had been through hell and back with her health. I understand his concern, but he didn't have to worry about me hurting her.
