-Sean's POV-

"Do you think this is the right path?" Lexi asked. She obviously let go some of that anger she had had.

"I-I don't know..." I answered.

"Well, there's 2 choices. Yes or no. 'I don't know' is not a choice." She said, raising one of her eyebrows.

"No... I don't think this is the right path..." I said quietly.

"And that's all you had to say..." She replied.

There was silence for 3 minutes until she asked me something.

"Why do you not talk?" She said in a sassy tone.

"Um.. Can I ask you a question?" I asked, unsure of her answer.

"Sure..? But when are you going to answer MY question?" She asked, but I ignored that last part because my question would lead to an answer to her question.

"Can I trust you?" I asked, putting a serious look on my face.

"Wait, is this a real question?" She asked, not paying attention to the look on my face.

I nodded.

"Oh.. Well then, yes, you can trust me." She said, realizing that I wasn't joking. "Why wouldn't you trust me?"

"Well... Before I escaped the place where my family got killed, my father told me to always ask someone if you can trust them, before you trust them." I explained.

"Oh."

And then there was a couple more minutes of silence.

"I'm really sorry about you and your family. I know how hard it has probably been." She said, trying to comfort me.

"I'm pretty sure you don't." I thought, but nodded instead of saying that.

"What do you think your power is?" She asked, changing the subject.

"I don't know. I've been good with swords and a bow and arrow, but I'm sure there is no power that has to do with those." I answered, sighing.

"Yeah..." She muttered.

Why is this so awkward?

And more silence.

"Hey, it's a dead end... You were right!" She exclaimed, breaking my thoughts.

And then a bunch of mobs spawned and started attacking us.

"Of course." I muttered, getting in a fighting position.

The first zombie tried to bite me, but instead, fell face-first onto the dirt road. The next 3 zombies were going after Lexi, but she took them out pretty fast.

There was only a small group of zombies left after that, but we easily took them out.

"Maybe you should've gone with someone else." I said, realizing that she wasn't lying about being a good fighter.

"See?" She said, knowing that I was convinced.

"Should we go back now?" I asked.

She nodded and lead the way back where we started.
