Ben and Luke exited the ship and walked across the burning sand to a small outpost. They approached the outpost, and they quickly find the outpost owner.
"Do you have a hyper drive?" Luke asked.
"Yes," the outpost owner replied. Then he led the Jedi and his apprentice to the back of the outpost where the parts were kept. Luke walked next to him, telling him what type of hyper drive they needed.
Ben lagged behind looking around at all of the ship parts. Some were old and barely in working condition. But others seemed to be in good shape. Suddenly, he noticed a girl sitting on the counter cleaning various ship parts. She worked hard to scrub away the sand and rust from the old ship part
"Hello," said the girl.
Ben smiled at her. "Hello," he answered. Then he looked around. "What are you doing in an outpost like this?"
"I have to work for food," she answered.
"But... you're just a little girl and this is dangerous work," he said, the thought of her having to move all this metal with sharp corners and edges made him angry.
"It's not dangerous," she answered. "Not as dangerous as when I scavenge for old parts."
"Do you go alone?" he asked her.
She nodded and smiled. "I'm brave."
"How long have you been here?" he asked.
"Three years," she answered. "Every since my parents left me."
"You're parents left you alone in this junkyard?" he asked.
She nodded. "They sold me to the owner of this outpost."
"You're a slave?" he asked, surprised.
"I'm a person. And my name is Rey," she answered angrily.
"I'm sorry, it's just... I can't imagine why someone would make you into a slave... I thought that you were an angel."
"What's that?" she asked.
"The most beautiful creatures in the galaxy," he answered.
She smiled shyly.
Ben smiled back, but then his face darkened as he thought of her own parents selling her. He turned to leave the outpost.
"Where are you going?" Rey asked him.
"To find your parents and give them a piece of my mind," he said.
"My parents are gone," she said.
"That's too bad," he answered. "I already had a speech planned."
The outpost owner showed Luke a hyper drive unit. "It's in good condition, but you will have to pay for it."
"Of course," Luke replied. "We have enough credits to pay for it."
"Credits are no good to me," he replied. "But I would be willing to trade something for it."
Luke nodded. "I will see what I can do," he said. Then he turned to leave.
He found Ben in the other room talking to a girl, Luke hadn't noticed her when he entered the outpost. There was something about her... he could feel the Force radiating off her like light from the sun. But he had no time to address the girl. The first order was not far behind them and they had to get their ship fixed so that they could leave as soon as possible.
"Come on Ben," he said leaving the outpost.
"I am glad to have met you Rey," he said, leaving the outpost.
"I'm glad to have met you too!" Rey called after him.
Unkar came into the room and shook his head. "Outsiders," he said grumpily.
"I thought they were nice," said Rey.
Unkar shook his head. Then he pointed to a part on the counter. "Clean that and then you can go home."
"Yay!" Rey exclaimed and she hurried to finish cleaning the ship part.
