Luke's POV
"Why are you doing this to yourself, Luke?" Michael asks me softly, leaning against the door frame.
I continue to sit on Molly's bed, staring at the wall across from me, "What else can I do?"
"She wouldn't want thi-"
"She's not fucking dead," I cut in, stopping Calum mid sentence. "Not until they find a body. You heard Chief Owens." Calum and Michael exchange a nervous glance. Ashton pushes through them and sits on the bed beside me.
"Luke," he starts, "It might not be the worst thing in the world to start preparing for a worst case scenario. That picture didn't look good, man. And it might take them years and years to find," he pauses and swallows hard, "a body." We all flinch. "I'm just saying, it might not be terrible to start to try to accept thi-"
"I'm not accepting shit," I snap, "You three don't fucking get it. Molly is my baby sister. I've been taking care of her fo-"
"She's like a fucking sister to us too, Luke. Yeah, it's not the same fucking thing. We get it. But we've been here, supporting you in your decision to bring her here and trying our fucking best to help you two out and make her comfortable and happy again. We've all grown closer to Molly. You also lost Drew, which we didn't. But that doesn't mean that this isn't hurting us, and that you can just shut down and act like a big baby because you're hurting. So are we, Luke!" Michael yells, his voice cracking, "All of you have siblings. You three and Molly are the closest things I've fucking got to siblings. This is killing me."
"I'm sorry," I apologize, my throat burning. He nods. A phone starts ringing.
"That's Molly's," Ashton breathes out, staring at my sister's phone as it lights up on her nightstand. Chief Owens. He reaches out and grabs it, answering it.
"Hello? What is it? What? Are you serious? We'll be down right away." Ashton's excitement has us all on edge our curiosity peaked.
"They have video of Psyche they just got from a business entrance in the alley. Owens wants us to come see it tight away."
"Let's fucking go!" Calum yells, racing towards the door.
~
"Are you boys ready?" Chief Owens asks the four of us as we gather around her computer screen.
"Yeah," I say, my voice cracking. I need this video to show me she's still alive. Please God.
"It's quite disturbing," she warns as she clicks play. We watch silently as my baby sister walks down the alley, checking to make sure no one followed her. She then sinks down behind the trash cans. She pulls a knife out of her hoodie pocket and holds it for about a minute, as if she's thinking about something. Then she plunges it into her stomach, biting down on her hoodie sleeve. I feel myself get light-headed. Blood gushes from the wound as she removes the weapon from her gut. Calum retches. Michael looks green while Ashton looks as white as a sheet. Chief Owens is showing no emotion, just concentration. I watch in horror as my little sister's eyes roll up in her head, and her chest stops moving.
"Is that all?" Ashton asks softly, his voice breaking.
"For a few hours," she answers, skipping forward, "This is about a minute and a half before the police arrived this morning. The man has already taken a picture of her." I stare at the screen, confused as to why we're watching this. I'm just waiting for someone to grab my sister's body and run off with it if I'm honest. I'm expecting worst case scenario.
Instead, I see Molly's chest start moving again. Slowly her eyelids begin fluttering until her eyes just open. She sits up and grins widely as see stands. Then her face falls.
"The cops are coming," Chief Owens explains, pointing out the approaching shadows. Suddenly Psyche just disappears.
"What the fuck?" Michael demands.
"Did she just vanish?" I jump in.
"Psyche's never been able to do that before," Ashton points out. She shushes us and points at the screen. The three men talk for a few minutes before all three walk around the corner, back to the car. Molly reappears on the screen, grins, then vanishes again.
"That's all we have of her here. I assume she probably ran off to finish whatever the hell she's doing. But my people and I have no clue about this video, why she stabbed herself, if she actually died, how she's alive again if she died, and of course, her invisibility," Chief Owens explains, "Do you four have any ideas?"
"The blue energy stuff she has can fix things. Maybe it healed her," I suggest.
"No," Michael jumps in, "We would've seen the blue energy swirling around if that was the case. There was none of it here." I sigh, even more confused now than I was before.
"Let's get you home, Luke," Ashton says softly. He takes my arm. The four of us go back to my apartment.
~
"Did you leave this door unlocked?" Calum asks me, frowning as he holds onto the doorknob. I shake my head no, a frown on my face. That's when it hits me.
"Molly!" I exclaim, pushing past them. I go into my apartment, looking around for my baby sister. "Molly are you here?"
"Hello boys," six people chant at once. They wear matching coats and malicious expressions. The front door slams shut.
"What the fuck," Michael says nervously, inching closer to me. Calum and Ash do the same.
"Tremor has been waiting for you," one speaks up. Five of them move towards us. We back up nervously. They frown and lunge. Something hits me in the head, and the world goes dark.
