Molly's POV

"Have a nice day at school, Molls," Luke chirps, waving to me as I walk up the sidewalk, towards the large brick building. I turn and flash him a thumbs up and a fake smile. He grins back, then turns to go to Calum, Ashton, and Michael's apartment for band practice. I sigh and go into the building, my head already pounding from all of the noise.

My spirits sink even lower after I get to my first class, and the teacher tells me where I'm supposed to sit. Felix, the boy I helped last night, is sitting in the desk right beside it. I take a deep breath and pray to whatever's out there that he won't recognize me.

Apparently my message didn't get through. As soon I sit down and Felix gets a good look at me, his eyes widen to about the size of Jupiter, and his cheeks turn rosey. I glare at him, making him nearly get whiplash from turning so fast.

He clears his throat, "Um, thank you for saving me last night."

My throat tightens, "I don't know what you're talking about."

"You're the superhero who saved me from Winston in the alley last night. I know it." I shake my head no. He frowns, "Okay then. Either way, I know it was you, so thank you again. Also, your secret is safe with me."

"I don't have a secret." I don't dare look over at him. Lucky for me, the teacher starts talking, cutting him and this terrible conversation off.

"So how'd you get your powers?" Felix inquires, putting a tray down on the table right beside my head. I groan into my arms, not looking up. "Molly?"

"If I tell you, will you leave me alone?" I snap, fed up with everything and everyone.

Felix blinks in surprise, "Um, yeah."

"Back at my old school, like seven or eight months ago, I snuck into the science lab and into the closet to get a new textbook because I lost mine. I accidentally knocked a bunch of random chemicals all over me when I tried to grab the book down. I panicked and left. Next thing I know, I have powers." The memory feels just like yesterday.

"Wow. Do you know whic-"

"No."

"Oh. So I told my mom about how a superhero saved me last night-"

"I thought you were gonna leave me alone if I told you how I got my powers?"

"She's chief in the police force and knows Winston-"

"I can't believe that kid's name is Winston. Talk about names not fitting a person," I snicker.

"I know, trust me. Anyways, she said that the police department has been under a lot of stress right now because there's been threats and multiple attacks that link together. Every single bad guy they catch that's related to this only babbles on about some guy named Tremor. That's all they say though, that name. My mom thinks it's a supervillain."

"Supervillains? Man, America sucks."

"She wants you to help them stop him," Felix finishes, his eyes shining. Mine go wide.

"What? No. I'm not a superhero. I don't help people-"

"You helped me-"

"That was different. I don't like bullies," I state, my body shaking slightly.

"Tremor is a bully! Just one with super powers. You can stop him and s-"

"No. I'm not interested in doing all the hard work while the police sit back."

"They would pay you. For more than just helping with Tremor. There's been so many attacks and stuff like that, they're swamped. They need help. They'd pay you. Please," Felix pleads.

"No," I persist, feeling slightly guilty.

He frowns more, then it fades to a sympathetic smile, "Just let me know if you change your mind." Next thing I know, he's picking up his tray and leaving. And I'm all alone again.
