I kinda forgot this book was a thing for a bit— sorry about that kailee ._.
~Rainbow Steve's POV~
After that call that Shark gave me, I started pacing around the bench. He said it wasn't safe for neither me nor Blue Steve to be apart from one another. After calming down enough that I've officially stopped crying and have gotten my nerves not as bundled up as they were, so I pull my phone out of my pocket.
I immediately go to my contacts and scroll until I find Blue Steve's contact, clicking on it and calling him. He doesn't respond... I immediately start sending him texts, asking if he's alright and begging him to call me when he can. I sit back down on the bench, hugging my knees and crying softly. "Please Blue Steve... please answer me..." I plea through my cries, knowing nobody would hear them though.
I get a text from my mom, and I sniffle, opening it.
"Rainbow Steve, don't come home tonight. Stay with Blue Steve or something's, just don't come home..." - My mom - Just now
I bite my bottom lip, knowing this is about my dad and how he lashed out at me. He's clearly drunk, just like most of the time since my little brother died... "Light Steve..." I whisper, my throat hoarse from crying. "I miss you so much... I wish that you didn't ever get in that car to go to that party with your friends..."
I decide to text my mom back, tears rolling down my face once again.
"Alright mom, I will. I love you." - Me - Just now
After a moment or so later, I get an "I love you" back from my mom, as well as a "Stay safe". I smile weakly through my tears, just to see my texts I sent to Blue Steve. "It's been 20 minutes..." I say aloud, though it sounds like just a bunch of gravel scraping against more gravel.
I pick up my phone, wrapping my hoodie around me tighter before walking to Blue Steve's house. My steps are shaking and not even at all, nor at a consistent pace. Every time I hear a mere leaf rustle from a tree, I turn around, expecting someone to be following me.
Slowly, my tears come to a stop, and soon after I get to Blue Steve's house. I knock on the door, hearing Blue Steve's mom shout a, "just a moment!"
I rock back and fourth on my feet, being out here alone honestly making me feel like I'm about to get murdered or something.
Finally, Blue Steve's mom opens the door, smiling at me. "Oh hey, Rainbow Steve!" she smiles at me, and I smile weakly at her.
"Hey, Blue Steve's mom," I say, forcing my uneasiness away. She smiles weakly, pressing her hand against my head.
"Are you okay?" she asks me, and then gesturing for me to come inside. I step inside the house I've been in oh-so many times to the point it feels more like home than my actual home.
"Yeah, I ran some of the way here, that's all. Say, do you need help with dishes?" I ask, trying to make it seem like nothing is wrong with me right now. I always offer to do dishes, and she usually lets me, but this time she just doesn't respond for a moment.
"No, I can get them. Now, tell me what's wrong," she says, just like my mother does.
"Family issues again..." I say simply. I mean, that wasn't a lie. It just wasn't the only thing that was wrong. Blue Steve's mom walks back to the kitchen, continuing to do the dishes. I bite my bottom lip, hoping she just leaves it at that.
"I'm sorry to hear that, Rainbow Steve... do you need to stay here for the night?" she asks with a smile, and I nod slowly.
"Yeah... my mom told me to ask you if I could stay the night..." I explain, and she nods.
"You can stay here whenever you need to, or whenever you want to. You're always welcome here," she smiles, looking up at the stairs.
"Thank you, Blue Steve's mom," I say with a weak smile, and she smiles.
"You know you can call me Alex, Rainbow Steve, but of course, you're welcome. Blue Steve is in his room if you want to go see him, she says, gesturing towards the stairs. I nod, thanking her once again before running up the stairs, going straight to Blue Steve's room.
He's laying on his bed, staring at the ceiling, and I can't help but smile softly. "Rainbow Steve?" he asks, giggling and then getting up, hugging me tightly. I hug him back, smiling softly.
"Miss me?" I ask, trying to hide how I'm actually feeling better this time than I did with his mom. He giggles, kissing my cheek.
"Of course I did!" he giggles. I blush softly, seeing as the door to his bedroom is still open, but smile.
I brush his hair out of his face, losing myself in his beautiful blue eyes. "I missed you too," I say with a grin. Being with Blue Steve, all my worries melt away, so it's a good thing I'm staying with him tonight.
"I'm staying the night with you tonight," I say simply, and he giggles. "Yay!" he says, grabbing my hand and pulling me over to his bed. I follow him, closing the door first before sitting down beside him on his bed.
We used to have sleepovers all the time, so you would think this one wouldn't be any different. Instead of just talking and playing video games immediately, the first thing he does is kisses me.
I blush, kissing back. He moves to where he's sitting on my lap, his arms around my neck to pull me closer to him. I gently place my hands on his hips, melting into the kiss.
It lasts for a moment before someone behind us clears their throat, making us pull away. When we turn around, we see his dad standing there; making both of us blush brightly.
"I was just coming to ask Rainbow Steve if he wanted anything to eat, but you two seem busy, so I'll leave you alone," his dad says with a grin, closing the door and leaving again. I only blush more, and Blue Steve just giggles.
He kisses me again, and it starts off slow before speeding up slightly. His hands slightly slide under my hoodie, making me gasp. I pull away from the kiss, looking at him softly. "We shouldn't do more than this..." I whisper, and he nods. He kisses my cheek, and then cuddles against my chest.
"I love you..." he mutters softly, making me smile.
"I love you too, Blue Steve..." I say, wrapping my arm around him protectively.
I was going to tell him about what Shark told me, but I don't want to worry him any more. I'll tell him one day, but not today.. I'll just stay with him, making sure he doesn't leave my sight. I'm not going to loose someone else I love; not anytime soon anyway...***
A few hours later, it starts to get dark, but we've literally done nothing but cuddle with one another. Honestly, I could stay like that forever... Blue Steve's mom knocks on the door, snapping us back to reality though that nothing lasts forever.
"Are you two hungry?" she asks, and just on time, my stomach growls. I roll my eyes, and Blue Steve giggles.
"I'll take that as a yes," Blue Steve's mom, Alex, giggles. "I'll make dinner now, it'll be about a half hour," she says and I thank her.
