Chapter 2: The midnight adventure

After everyone retired to bed, Naina took the cordless phone from the stand in the living room and went to her room where Preeti was busy in making the bed ready for the night.

"Oi, tujhe kya hua?" Preeti asked as she noticed Naina was quite and didn't look happy.

"Jijaji se phirse jhagda?" She asked and Naina Shook her head.

"Toh phir?"

"Mujhe khud nai pata. Sab accha chal raha tha aur achanak se canteen mein Sameer udaas sa ho gaya tha aur bohot chup. Tune notice nai kiya?" Naina said.

"Yaar, main mere samose ko notice kar rahi thi." Preeti said jovially but soon she too turned serious when she saw that Naina was damn serious about it.

"Tu Jijaji ko phone kar." She said as Naina nodded and dialled his number and the phone was answered after the second ring.

"Hello." She said as he too replied back.

"Sameer kya hua? Tum itne dukhi kyu ho?" Naina asked trying again.

"Kuch nai Naina. You're just over thinking." He said trying to sound casual but Naina didn't believe him as she knows him better than anyone else.

"Sameer jhooth mat bolo." She said.

"Nai Naina. I'm not lying. Uhh Naina, mujhe kuch kaam hain. Main phone rakhta hoon. Bye." He said and was about to hang up but she stopped him quick.

"Ruko! I love you." She said as he smiled.

"I love you too." He said and he hung up.

'Yaar ab isse kya hua? Pandit ke baare me sunkar woh chup hain. Kya woh uss baat se dukhi hain ki Pandit ek hafte ke life samosa nai khayenga? Kya yaar Naina, kuch bhi. Hmm lagta hain bas ek raasta hain." She said to herself as she got out of bed and headed to the bathroom.

Meanwhile on the other side of the city, Sameer was sitting on his bed.

He hated that word 'shart'. Yes, at first he wasn't much affected after Naina had forgiven him, but after their previous break up, he realized that if he was so hurt by Naina dumping him that too when her own feelings were the same as his, imagine what had Naina gone through after she got to know about the bet. About that 'shart'. She was completely broken.

'You were the reason she was in hospital that day. You were the reason behind her change from a bubbly girl to a girl with a broken heart.' He said to himself.

"But she's forgiven you. And she forgot all about the bet. You should forget about it too. And what about all the love you gave her in these four years? What about the fact that you love her?'His conscious reasoned but he didn't listen.

He kept looking at the pictures that were taken in Mt Abu. And held Naina's picture close to his heart.

"Preeti uthh." Naina called out to Preeti as she tapped her shoulder repeatedly trying to wake her up.

"kya hain yaar? Tu sau aur mujhe bhi sone de." Preeti said as she pulled the duvet up to her neck and turned to face the other side.

"Yaar Preeti please uth." Naina said and Preeti half heartedly got up, narrowing her eyes at Naina.

"Kya hain? Kyu uthaya mujhe?" Preeti mumbled still in her half asleep state.

"Tu mujhe madad kar. Main abhi Sameer ke ghar jaa rahi hoon." Naina said as Preeti widened her eyes and shouted "Kya!?" and Naina quickly covered her mouth.
