Chapter 16: Serendipity

"Naina! Bahar nikal!" Preeti said as she jumped and banged the door making Swati laugh.

"Haan, kisne bola itne chole thoosne ko? Ab bhugat." Swati said as she chuckled and picked up the hair clip as she pinned her hair on the side, satisfied with the hairstyle.

"Tu chup hi re. Khud khaati hai haati jaisi aur ab mujhe suna rahi hai." Preeti said and banged the bathroom door again while Swati shook her head at her best friend's antics.

It was good to be back to her gang, and most importantly to her Preeti and Naina and her love, Munna. A lot had changed now, they had become more matured and their love for each other had grown stronger. She still couldn't believe what a fool she had been for ditching her friends for that CowHead Sunaina.

Naina finally came out after what seemed as ages, according to Preeti,  and Preeti immediately dashed into the bathroom not giving anyone a chance to say anything. Looking at her antics, the two laughed while picking out their outfits.

Naina sat on the bed as she looked confused on what to wear. See, she brought two dresses for the sangeet. One was a beautiful red and black Anarkali, beaded on the top half, while the other was a pink Anarkali with floral patterns on it. They both were extremely beautiful and didn't find it in her to choose just any outfit. She wanted to look the best for her Sameer.

Sameer!

Why didn't she think of that earlier?

She should think of what would Sameer love seeing her in.

A black and red coloured dress, or a pink one?

She remembered back to how once Sameer confessed that he loved seeing her dressed in pink and immediately picked up the pink outfit. She blushed as she realized her hastiness.

She soon went to the bathroom and changed into her outfit. She came out while Swati and Preeti both hooted and showered her with compliments.

She remembered how awestruck and speechless was Sameer when he first laid his eyes on her during Pooja Didi's sangeet. She wanted the same reaction from him today, if possible a reaction that too conveys his desires for her.

She curled her hair a little leaving it loose. She decided on applying a little make up, from what all she learned from the beauty magazines she once snuck into the house. She made sure to apply a dark shade of lipstick. She hooked on silver dangling earings and a beautiful bracelet that was gifted by chachaji and chachiji when she topped the last semester of 12th standard.

She gave herself a satisfied smile as she looked in the mirror, happy with the reflection that stared back at her.

Now she couldn't wait to meet Sameer.  She was excited for what would the impending night give out to her.

The sangeet function was over, the guests as well as the family members had gone to bed.  Only two souls were sitting on the cement bench right in the corner of the garden. Sameer and Naina.

Just as the sangeet function started, Sameer's eyes searched for his Naina everywhere and were rooted onto one spot as his breath hitched and his heart skipped a beat. There she stood looking ever so ravishing. He didn't know how to describe the hormonal gush of feelings and emotions that engulfed him at that moment. He knew, if he looked for a second more in her direction, people would somehow notice, but the thought did nothing to waver his eyes from the sight of his beloved.
