Maine Pyaar Kiya
Chapter 8- The invitation card

Later that night, Chachiji came in and gave the invitation card that was delivered earlier that day.

“Yeh lo. Isme address aur sab likha hain.” She said and the two jumped off the bed and read the beautiful golden card on which the initials K and S were engraved.

“Wow! Itna sundar card!” Preeti exclaimed as Naina imagined the initials S and N placed there in place of K and S and started blushing.

‘Kaash yeh sapna bohot jald poora hojai.’ She thought to herself and blushed more if that was possible.

“Oh behen. Agar jijaji aur tere card ke sapne dekhne  band hue, toh kya hum card ke andar dekh sakte?” Preeti asked and Naina flushed at her remarks causing Preeti to chuckle.

They soon opened the card and were met with the words written in Hindi.

They soon saw the address, causing Naina’s eyes to widen in shock and happiness.

Mount Abu.

She couldn’t believe her eyes.

Mount Abu.

The place where the real foundation of their love was built. The place where Sameer had started falling in love with her. The place where she spent so many beautiful moments with Sameer. The place that got her closer to Sameer. The place where he first ate her jutha. The place where she confessed her love for him. The place where she got her heart broken for the first time.

In short, the place that held the most special place in her heart.

She smiled wide, and Preeti looked at the address and then at her sister's face and knew exactly why she was advertising her teeth at 10:30 in the night. She smiled to herself and gave Naina a quick hug, before going to bed.
She thought  it’s best to leave Naina there, reminiscing those beautiful memories related to mount Abu.

“Mount Abu.” Naina whispered to herself and the next minute got a little disappointed.

She would be going to Mount Abu, but without her Sameer.

She wanted him to come with as well, she wanted to relive those days with him. She suddenly missed him so much, that she phoned him and when he picked up the call, knowing very well that it was Naina.

His ears were met with the beautiful voice of Lata Mangeshkar as the lyrics of Dil Deewana played.

He instantly smiled and after a while, he played Mere Rang mein on his walkman and she too blushed thinking of the initial days of their masoom dosti.

“Sameer, tumhe pata hain, agle hafte main aur Preeti humari cousin ki shaadi mein jaarahe hain.” Naina said as the two were sitting on their little spot in the college garden, a few trees away from the eyes of the world.

“Wow, yeh acchi baat hain. Waise shaadi kaha hain?”

“Mount Abu.”

“Kya?” Sameer asked and he got a smile thinking of their kindling love in that beautiful place, but the next moment, he snapped out of his thoughts and got worried about the fact that she would be out of Ahmedabad for a week and they won’t be able to meet.

“Naina, Lekin hum kaise milenge?” Sameer asked.

“Please mat jao na.” He said as he sulked and this was getting harder for Naina.

She obviously didn’t want to leave him and not meet him for a week, but this was a family wedding. Moreover, Kritika, the bride was very close to them all.

“Sameer samaj jao. Please. Kritika Didi ki shaadi hain. Woh humari badi behen ki tarah hain. Agar main aur Preeti nai gaye, unko bohot bura lagenga.” Naina said.

“Aur Sameer, ek hi hafte ki baat hain. Phir main khud tumhare ghar aaungi. Promise. Aur Haan, main tumhe waha se bhi call karoongi na.” She said.

Sameer still wasn’t too keen on letting her go, so Naina kept on trying her best in convincing him.

“Naina, main tumhe bohot miss karunga.” He said with misty eyes.

Not meeting Naina for a day leaves him so restless, imagine a week without Naina. His Naina.

“Main bhi.” She said as she moved towards him, sat on his lap and hugged him tight.

“I love you.” Naina said.

“I love you too.” Sameer replied as his hold on Naina’s waist tightened.

“Main na tumhe promise karti hoon, ki main bohot photos kheechungi, sirf tumhare liye. Aur har roz phone pe baat karenge.” Naina said as she also tightened her hold on him and the two stayed in that embrace.
It was soon time for JBR's lesson and Naina was about to untangle and get up, but Sameer stopped her.

“Please Naina. Aaj tum tumhara har waqt mere saath bitao.” He said and as she didn’t have the heart to refuse him, she stayed there and leaned on his chest as the two talked nonstop.

The next few days went with them giving the maximum time to the other. The rest of the gang even used to at times do their own things so as to give the couple their privacy for which both Sameer and Naina were very thankful. And as if the time they spent at college wasn’t enough, you would find both their landlines engaged the entire night, causing them to come to college with droopy eyes.

One such day, Naina was busy crossing the road and checking her timetable at the same time. She didn’t notice the car from her right and that’s when the car there bumped her.

The next moment, the passer-by’s huddle around her and Preeti, who was gone to the stall to buy something, noticed the commotion, went their and her eyes widened as she saw Naina there in a pool of blood.

“Naina!” Preeti screamed in horror as she as what sister lying there.

The driver then came out of the car and looked at them.

“Arrey oh, bhaisaab. Dikhai nai deta? Dekho, yeh  ladki ka Kya haal Hua.” One of the men from the crowd said.

“Sorry, beta. Maine dekha hi nai tha. Chalo main hospital le jaata hoon.” He said as the few people that were there, helped Preeti in taking Naina to the car and soon the man zoomed off to the hospital.

Naina was soon taken into the ward as she had lost a lot of blood and Preeti was continuously crying. She felt so helpless at that time. The man came and placed his hand over Preeti's head.

“Maaf kardo beta. Maine sachme nai dekha tha. Tum apne family ko inform kardo.” The man said and that’s when Preeti realised, nodded her head and went to the phone booth and that’s when she remembered that their family had gone out as something had happened to one of their relatives on the outskirts of Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Sameer was feeling quite restless, as he paced in his room. He had gone to college but due to him feeling so strange and an unsettling fear in his heart, that he came back home.

Soon the phone rang and he immediately answered it, hoping it to he Naina, as he just wanted to hear her voice.

“Jijaji.” Preeti said as she sniffed and that’s when Sameer heard her.

“Preeti  Kya Hua? Tum ro rahi ho? Preeti, kuch Hua hain Kya? Naina kaha hain? Please usse phone do?” He said all in one go, not even waiting for her reply and Preeti cried even more.

“Jijaji, voh nai-"

“Kya Hua Naina ko?” He asked as panic rose in him.

“Jijaji voh. Naina ka  accident Hua hain.” She said and narrated everything to him.

“Aap please jaldi aao.” She said and the next minute Sameer ran as fast as he could. He even bumped himself many times, but nothing stopped him from reaching his Naina. As soon as he reached the hospital, he saw Preeti there in the corridor with a man and he ran to her.

“Preeti, Naina kaha hain?” He asked breathless.

Preeti couldn’t utter a word and so she just pointed to the door of the ICU and Sameer froze.

He took slow strides towards the door and that’s when he saw his Naina. His otherwise lively Naina, was lying their lifeless with various wires and equipments attached to her body. He couldn’t help but remember back to that day when he too saw his nanu through that little glass. He completely broke down. He couldn’t make heads of what was happening there.

‘Please meri Naina ko bachao.” He kept on murmuring.

He then looked at the door looking for the doctor to come out saying that his Naina was all good.

Soon, Munna Pandit, Swati, Kamya and Hema same as well a while later. MunDit were informed by Ramdhari when they went to look up on Sameer and they had informed the rest, including Swati.

“Sameer!” Munna said as the two ran to him and he broke down in Mundit's  arms. Swati too went to Preeti and hugged her tight praying  for her long lost best friend to come back and slap her for all her mistakes. She hoped it wasn’t too late.

Ab? Now what will happen? Is it too late for Swati to apologise to her dearest best friend?
