Chapter 3: Let it go....

“Naina, tumhe pata hain, bachpan se leke main mommy ki pyaar ke liye taras raha tha. Maine tumse school me kaha na, ki mummy mujhse saal mein sirf dou baar phone karti thi. Uss time jab tumne mujhpar chori ka ilzaam lagaya tha, mummy mujhse bohot naaraz huyi. In fact, woh wapas Delhi gaye the mere birthday se pehle. Aur uss ilzaam ki wajah se Rakesh sir ne Nanu ke parvarish par ungli uthayi, aur ghusse mein, maine woh shart lagaya tha, ki tum mujhe I love you bolongi. Lekin pata nai kaise tum mujhe bohot acchi lagne lagi. Jab bhi Munna Pandit shart ke baare mein baatein karte the, main ghussa hua karta tha. Aur phir jab tum mujhse Milne hospital aayi thi, mujhe ussi room mein aur ussi pal ehsaas hua ki main tumse pyaar karta hoon. Naina, I’m really sorry, maine tumhara dil dukhaya tha.” He said as he broke down and hid his face in Naina’s stomach while Naina too had tears seeing Sameer so vulnerable.

“Sameer, shh dekho, meri taraf dekho.” She said as she made him face her and wiped his tears.

“Yeh shart vagera, main bhool chuki hoon. Tumhari kassam. Aur Sameer, mujhe bhi Tumse kuch kehni hain.” Naina said as she lowered her eyes as she didn’t have the courage to face him.

“Kya Hua Naina?” he asked as he saw that  look of guilt passing her face.

“Voh... yaad hain tumhe? Ki main Tumse bohot ghussa thi jab mujhe laga ki tumne papers churaye the aur phir doosre hi din main tumse Theek se baat karne lagi? Voh issi liye kyuki mujhe phir pata chala tha  ke chori tumne nai, balki kisi aur ne ki. A-A-Arjun Bhaiya  ne.” She said as Sameer got extremely shocked at the revelation.

‘Kya?” he asked.

“Haan Sameer.” She said as she continued saying that Arjun made her promise that she wouldn’t reveal his secret.

“I’m sorry Sameer. Main hi bohot buri hoon.” She said as she started crying.

“hey, chup. Naina, dekho. Meri taraf dekho. I love you.” He said as he planted a long his on her forehead and she closed her eyes at the contact of his lips on her forehead.

“Sameer, tum mujhse naaraz... Nai ho?” Naina asked completely surprised.

“Nahi, main actually bohot khush hoon ki tumne mujhe sach bataya. Yahi kaafi hain mere liye.” He said as Naina looked at him astonished.

What was this man? Did he not feel an iota of anger in him? Did he not want to leave her and never return again? Did he not regret falling irrevocably in love with her?

The answer was no. Never.

She mentally thanked God over and over again for blessing her with Sameer and considered herself to be the most luckiest girl for having a life partner who values and loves her so much.

“Naina, mujhe bhi kuch bolna hain.” He said as Naina looked at him confused.

Wasn’t the bet the only thing that he wanted to talk about?

“Yaad hain, jab main Delhi se Ahmedabad aaya , Lekin ghusse mein main ussi din wapas Chala gaya?” he asked as she nodded her head. Gosh, how could she forget that day?

“Uss din koi rickshaw, koi taxi nai mil rahi thi. Aur waha mujhe kuch ladke mile.” Sameer said and he continued saying how due  to his loneliness at home, he started hanging out with his new so called friends. He admitted what what he had done.

“Sameer, isme tumhari koi ghalti nai hain.” Naina said as Sameer looked at her astonished.

“Tab tum sirf  17 saal ke the. Tum ek  teenage ladke the. Uss zindagi ke daur par logon ko  accha-galat ka kuch samajh nai aata.” Naina said remembering what Shanti teacher had told her back then when she was caught with the love letter.

“Hmm Sameer, Kya- Kya tumne kabhi kisi ladki ko...” Naina asked the question that was eating her from within.

“nai Naina bilkul nai. Main uss time bewakoof zaroor tha, Lekin mera dil tumhare hi paas tha. Haan lekin mujhe dukh iss baat ki hain ki voh ladke mere saamne hi ladkiyon ko ched rahe the aur maine kuch nai kiya.” He said as Naina let out a breath of relief.

She trusted Sameer, more than her life, but like she said at that stage of life, you end up doing incomprehensible things, and moreover Sameer was lonely, she wasn’t there with him.

“Waise Naina, lagta hain tumhara iraada pehle se hi tha, mere room mein ghusne ka.” He said with a mischievous smile in an attempt to lighten the intense atmosphere.

Naina, knowing what Sameer was up to, mock glares at him and kept her hands on her hip.
“Arrey mazaak karraha hoon.” He said laughing slightly.

Naina checked the clock that read half past one and panicked on seeing the time.

“Sameer! Der baj gaye! Ab main kaise jaaungi?” Naina asked as she panicked.

“toh mat jao. Yeh tumhara bhi toh ghar hain.” Sameer said with a mischievous smile as Naina narrowed her eyes and lightly smacked his arm as Sameer laughed.

“Chalo, main tumhe drop kar doonga.” He said.

“Nahi Sameer, main auto le loongi.” Naina said but Sameer gave her the ‘keep quite and let me drop you’ look and she kept her mouth shut.

After dropping Naina home and once Naina found out that he arrived home safe, the two went back to sleep peacefully. Both their hearts got rid of the burden of that secret they had carried all those years.

The next day, Sameer came and found the rest of the gang outside JBR's classroom.

“Naina kaha hain?” he asked as he noticed that Naina was not there as yet.

“library mein hain. Ab toh exams bhi shuru  hone wali hain.” Preeti replied and he nodded and walked off to the library.

Once he entered, he saw her engrossed in her book. The standing fan blew in her direction making Naina irritated as her hair kept falling in her face.

He slowly went there, making sure she didn’t notice him and stood right behind her. Naina, who was so engrossed in her book, didn’t feel his presence as she usually did. Sameer then slowly pushed back the strand of her hair behind her ear, caressing her cheek at the same time and time seemed to stop for Naina as she felt his fingers brushing across her cheek.

She quickly turned back, finding him there giving his usual flirtatious smile while she just kept on admiring that smile of his.

“Sameer tum yaha?” Naina asked as Sameer Maheshwari in the library was really a very rare sight to be seen in those days.

But what to do? If love could make him mop the floors of her house, how wouldn’t it make him enter the library?

Before finding herself drowning in his eyes, Naina quickly averted the topic and told him to study with her, as exams were just in a few days time.

“Kya yaar Naina. Har  waqt padayi. College mein hain. Library mein akele hain, romance toh karna zaroori hain.” He said with a naughty smile and Naina blushed and tried hiding her blush from Sameer’s loving gaze.

“Chup! Badmaash.” Naina said feigning anger, but acted terribly all thanks to her blazing cheeks.

“Aaye sharmaate huye kitni pyaari lagti ho.” Sameer said.

“Bas ab. Chalo class ka time horaha hain.” Naina said as she held his arm and both walked out.

After their lectures were done, the gang decided on hanging out a little by the College's garden before going home.

“Yaar humari life kitni boring hain. Kuch entertainment hain hi nai.” Preeti said breaking the previous silence.

“Toh tu ek kaam kar. Circus mein chali ja. Waha tujhe bohot entertainment milenga. Aur tu khud circus join karle.” Pandit said as Preeti glared at him making him shut up the next moment, making them all laugh.

“Lekin Haan. Preeti sahi bol rahi hain yaar. Ab  dekho, holidays mein aur weekends mein na hi hum milte hain aur na hi kissi ke ghar par, film dekhnne. ” Munna said.

“Haan Haan. Munna tu ek kaam kar, kal Saturday hain, tum sab laug mere ghar aao. Waha tum sab ki badi acchi khatirdagi hongi. Weekends pe milneka.” Naina said sarcastically and indirectly rejected the idea as she was scared of being caught by anyone, especially any of the elders of their family.

“Yaar Naina tu bhi na. Theek hain. At least ek picnic pe  jaaye hum sab?” Munna asked as all, except Naina, agreed to the idea.

“Come on Naina. haan boldo. Waise bhi, hum kaha zyaada bahaar jaate hain.” Sameer said.

And finally after a lot of persuading from everyone Naina agreed to it.

“Lekin hum pehle chachaji se poochenge. Mujhe unse jhoot nai bolna. Theek hain?” She said as all got happy.

I bet you all initially expected her to reject right?
