Kyungsoo
Despite all my worries about Chanyeol, I was looking forward to school more than I ever had before. Mostly because of Kai, but I wasn't ashamed to admit that I liked his company. That didn't really account for the other things I was feeling for him, but I figured I'd cross that bridge if I ever got to it.
I was kind of behind my schedule one day, but I got to school with ten minutes to spare. I saw Kai on one of the benches in the hallway, hunched over and working on some homework. I smiled and walked over to him, taking a seat next to him.
"You know, they call it homework for a reason," I said almost as a whisper, leaning closer to his ear. He spun his head in my direction, slightly startled by my sudden appearance, but grinned at me anyway.
"You're funny, you know that?" he replied as he went back to copying down the answers from someone else's paper. "Boom. That's how we do that," he said, placing both papers inside his folder and slamming it shut. I chuckled a little at him and shook my head, watching as he shoved the folder back into his bag.
"I've been meaning to ask you something," he said as he sat back up and rested his back against the wall. "You see, Mrs. Yoon pulled me aside yesterday and said I'd have to retake this class if I didn't get at least a C and I cannot stand another year with her. Do you think you could like share some of your English knowledge with me some time?"
"Yeah, I'd be happy to share my expertise with you," I said, earning a chuckle from him.
"Cool. Can we start soon? If I can keep this from my parents, I would like to."
"Yeah, I'm free this afternoon."
"Great. We can do it at my house, but we'll have to take the bus because my parents don't trust me to drive nor do they trust me to be at other people's houses without adult supervision," he said, sounding rather displeased.
"That's interesting," I said in some sort of turmoil. He just groaned as he shook his head.
"Apparently, I am a child of God and as a child of God I cannot not fall for temptation or else I will burn in hell." I gave him one of those seriously faces and he nodded his head. "Too late though. I've already booked my one-way trip to Hell." I laughed again, though I could tell there was a lot more going on with that than he was letting on at that moment.
The warning bell rang and we parted ways a little farther down the hall, as his classroom was closer to the end of the hall than mine was. The rest of the day passed normally, but to say I wasn't slightly distracted by the idea of spending time alone with outside of school would have been a lie. Maybe I was looking forward to it too much, but I really couldn't help it. I just liked him.

I decided it would be a good idea to wait for D.O near the line exit doors, so he'd know where he was going. I was scrolling through my songs when a pair of two feet appeared in front of me. I looked up and he was standing there uncouthly, his arms dangling at his sides loosely.
"Oh hey," I said, settling with the song I was listening to and stuffing my phone in my back pocket. He just smiled bashfully in response. "Ready?"
"Yep, ready," he said simply, now clutching his backpack straps with both of his hands.
I chuckled and lead him out the doors. The bus stop wasn't that far from the school, so it only took us a few minutes to walk to it. On that day, we were lucky enough to catch the bus right as it was pulling up, so we didn't have to wait like I usually did. Maybe it was because I was with him.
"Do you prefer the window or the aisle?" I asked him once we were inside.
"Either is fine." He shrugged. I could tell it had been a while since he was on a bus, which made me crack a smile.
"Okay, well then after you," I said motioning to the window seat. He smiled that cute smile of his again and took his backpack off before sitting down. I sat next to him and placed mine on the floor. A few more people got on the bus after us and then we were leaving the bus stop. The bus was as quiet as it usually was, but I nudged him and handed him one of my earbuds anyway. He looked at it for a moment, slightly confused.
"It makes the trip go faster," I said. He glanced it again briefly before taking it in his fingers. He leaned a little closer to me, so that the cord wouldn't have to stretch so far, which made my heart start racing out of nowhere even though we weren't even touching. I tried not to look at him, but I could almost feel him blushing from beside me.

"Ambiguous." He narrowed his eyes as he searched for an answer in his mind.
"Ambiguous," he repeated slowly. "Ambiguous." He looked at me as if the answer was written on my face and I just looked right back at him. "Ambiguous. How's that used in a sentence?"
"Um." I look away, trying to think of an example. "The court case was difficult to settle because it was so ambiguous." He just looked even more confused and I mentally sighed. "Okay, let's try a different approach. How are you with spelling?"
"Alright I guess," he said as he shrugged his shoulders, telling me he probably wasn't very good at it. But I just went along with it because I didn't want to completely crush his confidence.
"Okay then, try spelling it out." I slid a piece of paper and pencil to him. He picked it up and pressed the lead tip against the thin, white paper with a light force. He slid it back over to me and I scanned over it. "Well at least you can spell correctly," I said, trying to be positive. He cracked a little smile. "But your m's don't really look like m's." He groaned and slammed his head on the kitchen table.
"I'm helpless. I just wasn't meant to understand to English," he said into the polished wood below him.
"You are not helpless. It just takes practice. It's a difficult language, so it's understandable," I said in an attempt to comfort him. Another muffled yet frustrated groan came from him. "We'll try a different exercise and come back to that word. This time try writing the first sentence that comes to your mind," I encouraged him, moving the paper to him again.
He lifted his head slightly, but not all the way, and his eyes landed on the paper as if it was his enemy. He sighed and put the wooden pencil in between his fingers, beginning to write slowly. After about a minute later, he shifted the paper back over to me and skimmed over it. My heart almost came to an abrupt halt as I kept reading it over, trying to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me.
I like you
I looked at him speechlessly and he tried to avoid returning it.
"So?" he said, breaking the now awkward silence nonchalantly. "What do you think?" He finally met his eyes with mine and I still was at a lack for words.
"You forgot the period at the end," I said, attempting to change the subject.
"Oh...right," he said, sounding disenchanted. His reaction made me feel kind of bad because he was probably thinking I didn't return his feelings. To be honest, I didn't fully know if I did, or rather I couldn't decide if the feelings I had for him were romantic. But I knew I couldn't be stupid and pass up a chance to find out.
"It should look like this," I said, trying to cover the choked up noise in my throat. I wrote something down quickly and nervously before shoving it front of his gaze.
I like you, too.
He looked at me, bewildered by what his eyes just saw. I smiled a little, disconcerted, without looking at him. I could feel the heat of his smile sinking deep into my veins.
"We should go back to ambiguous," I said, breaking the silence now. "It's a big word, so it'll probably be on the exam." He just nodded once, still smiling, and I turned my focus away from him.
I couldn't help but crack a smile, too.
