Kai

I was absolutely dreading my first day at the new school. The thought of being surrounded by a bunch of prissy rich kids who claimed to be servants of God when in all reality they were worse sinners than I was didn't excite me. I also wasn't looking forward to catching up with an entire semester's worth of lessons just so I could graduate on time.

I just wanted to be back home with my actual friends and with Kyungsoo, where I belonged.

I had to dig through some boxes to find the uniform because I refused to unpack anything of my things after my parents dropped me off. I threw it on once I located it and then I gently shoved my ear buds in my ears before leaving my room. Once I got to the main building on campus, I bitterly went to the main office.

"You must be our new student, Kim Jongin," the secretary said as I pulled by ear buds out.

"Yeah, that would be me," I said as I sighed a little. She nodded and walked away for a moment, coming back with a folder.

"Here are just some papers your parents need to sign, your I.D. card, and schedule." She handed me the folder and I briefly glanced at it. "Most of the classrooms on campus are in the building next to this one. Once you're in there, there are signs that will direct you to the classrooms."

"Okay, thank you," I said, bowing slightly. She just smiled kindly and I walked back out into the busy hallway. Opening the folder, I pulled out the one with the schedule printed on it. I couldn't help but silent groan to myself. "This is gonna be hell," I said under my breath.

"You'd be right about that," a voice from behind me said, catching me off guard. I turned around and looked at the owner of the voice with furrowed eyebrows. "Sorry, did I scare you?"

"A-A little, yeah," I said. "I also didn't think anyone would hear me."

He chuckled a little and reinforced his bag over his shoulder. "Yeah, my friends tell me I have a tendency to be nosy, so you'll have to excuse me," he said. "I'm Taemin, by the way." He held out his hand and I looked at for a second.

"I'm Kai," I replied as I shook it.

"Is that your birth name?"

"No. My real name is Jongin."

"Figured. Our parents may be cruel for sending us hear, but no parent would be cruel enough to name their child that."

"Okay...then," I said, awkwardly narrowing my eyes as I tried to figure out if I should be insulted or not.

"I'm really sorry. Is he creeping you out?" another voice said, appearing beside Taemin seemingly out of nowhere. "He does that a lot. I almost didn't want to be friends with him because of it."

"Says you, Zelo," Taemin said.

The other kid, Zelo I guess his name was, just rolled his eyes. "I'm Zelo, nice to meet you." He waved at me a little.

"Kai," I said, giving him a small nod in response.

"So what brings you here, Kai?" he asked.

"Shitty parents," I said, earning a laugh from both of them.

"Relatable," Zelo said. "Somehow, they think that putting me in a boarding school will prevent me from listening to too much hip-hop. Makes zero sense, but I figure I'll entertain their hysterical ways for now."

"Why'd they drag you here?" Taemin added in.

"Because I have a boyfriend and may or may not be gay."

"Ah, yes, the tale as old as time," Zelo said, pulling his skateboard up to his side. "Well, no need to worry about bullying or anything. 95% of us don't want to be here and the ones that do are usually too busy sucking up to the teachers because they think it'll get them a one-way ticket to heaven to actually pay attention to us sinners." I chuckled at that one.

"So where are you headed?" Taemin questioned. I looked down at my schedule to find an answer.

"207, wherever that is," I said with a light sigh. "Giving directions isn't the secretary's greatest strength."

He laughed. "Well, lucky for you, new kid, that room is on the way to ours, so you can with us," Taemin said with a pleased smile.

"Cool, thanks." He hummed and nodded, and then we all began walking toward the exit.

I still would have rather been back home, but Taemin and Zelo didn't seem so bad. Maybe they would even come to be my friends, some bright lights in an otherwise dark and gloomy place.

Threw in a couple of my favorite maknaes for your and my pleasure lol. I've been combining a lot of chapters, so this story should be all edited in the next few days. Then I'll probably move on to a different story, I'm thinking "Falling For the Bad Boy" but we'll see! Thanks for reading! xoxoxo
