Louis pushes his empty plate away from him, freeing up some space on the table as he sips his water. Marlon beside him sips at his beer, being the only one in the restaurant over the age of twenty-one, he's the only one drinking. Everyone else is stuck with soda or water.

Clementine doesn't mind though, after drinking heavily the night before she's glad to be drinking water. She can't keep her eyes of Violet, and she watches her with intent as the blonde loses herself in a conversation with Brody. A waitress sweeps past their table and collects the empty plates, quickly whisking them away before returning with her notebook flipped to a new page, pen in hand as she addresses the group.

"Can I get anyone any dessert?" she questions with a smile as she looks at each member of the group. Louis too looks at everyone in the circle. People slowly shake their heads and Louis smiles as he looks up to the waitress.

"Just the bill please," he says as rummages in his jacket pocket for his wallet.

"You're not paying for all of us," says Brody in shock as Louis collects the bill and places his credit card inside the booklet.

"Why, not? It's Vi's birthday weekend,?" he says as he grins.

"I appreciate the sentiment," says Violet as she leans over and picks up the bill, her eyes widen at the total "but this too expensive Lou."

"We'll pay for the starters at least Lou," insists Marlon as he places his credit card on the table.

"Yeah," says Clem "Violet's not paying for anything, but stick the drinks and the tip on my card."

Louis smiles and shakes his head, knowing that his friends won't allow him to pay for the entire meal, not when he's already managed to sort the accommodation for the weekend break.

"What's the plan after this," asks Marlon as she finishes his beer.

Brody stretches and yawns, "I could go to sleep, all that driving has left me exhausted."

Violet checks her phone and then reaches for Clementine's hand beneath the table, the brunette turns to face her and smiles. "I know it's late, and I know you might be tired, but do you want to come back down to the beach with me before bed?"

Clementine looks out of the large glass windows to the streets that head towards the beach. The neon lights that illuminate the roads map out the path to the shore and while the skies are dark, a hint of dark blue ombrés in the black of the night. "Yeah," Clementine replies imagining the two wrapped around each other with nothing but the sound of the waves for company, "that sounds wonderful."

Violet nods and finishes off her drink, thanking Louis for paying for her meal and inviting everyone to his parent's beach house. Once the bill is paid, all five young adults head out of restaurant and back onto the quiet streets of Virginia Beach. Deeper into the city music pounds from nightclubs but as they head towards the sea it quietens down. Gentle winds blow and waves roar as they rush onto the beach but it's a peaceful sound, one that makes Clementine relax.

"We're gonna go to the beach for a while," says Violet as she pulls away from the main gate. Clementine leans against Violet, their hands are laced together and Clementine's chin rests against her girlfriend's shoulder.

Louis smirks as he watches the way Clementine clings onto Violet, "okay," he says as he begins to walk back towards the house with Brody and Marlon by his side. "Don't do anything I wouldn't do," he says with a wink as he turns around, spinning the house keys around his finger as he heads towards the building.
