FLASHBACK
"Clem, come on! Where are we going?" Violet asks gleefully, pressing her face against the window as the buildings along the side of the road rush by in a blur, "we've never gone towards this side of town."
"Nope, not telling," answers Clementine, grinning at the antics her girlfriend has been pulling for the past thirty minutes now. "Telling you would spoil the fun, wouldn't it?"
Violet pouts for a short second, but she ends up giving in to the smile forming anyway. She looks around a bit more, trying to think of any place they could possibly be going. No particular places come to mind, partially because she doesn't ever really come out this way. Shoving her curiosity into the back of her mind, Violet notices a charm hanging from the rearview mirror. An open book.
"I still can't believe you stole Lee's car for this..." she snickers, shaking her head when she sees her girlfriend's lips curling up in a mischievous grin. "Won't he be like... mad, or something?"
"He'll be fiiine," the brunette says, keeping her eyes on the road, "...eventually."
"Well, I sure as hell hope so. Don't need my girlfriend getting grounded on me right after we start dating," Violet says a little timidly. She's still getting used to this entire 'Clementine is my girlfriend, holy shit she likes me back' thing. Not that she minds or anything. It doesn't matter how long it'll take to fully get used to it, but she knows one thing for sure; she's never letting go.
Adjusting herself so she's in the airflow of the car's AC, she starts looking outside the window again. It's a very hot summer day, and that goes to show by the outfit Clementine is wearing; a loose-fitting tank top with a print of a raven flying in front of a blood-red moon, a simple pair of skinny blue jeans and her hat, obviously.
Violet hadn't commented on her girlfriend's outfit yet since she was too nervous that she would make it awkward. But isn't that what girlfriends do? She starts nervously fidgeting her fingers, not really knowing whether she should risk saying something stupid that could make this entire drive a lot more awkward.
"What's eating away at ya, Vi? You seem tense."
Clementine's sudden voice snaps Violet out of her thoughts and she focuses back on reality, her girlfriend, specifically. "Just thinking," the blonde says absentmindedly.
"Oh yeah? About what?"
"Hm... " Violet pretends to be in deep thought. "You."
Clementine immediately feels the heat rising up her cheeks at Violet's sly remark, her eyes fluttering shut a few times as she tries to pay attention to the road. She hits a speed bump while going a little too fast and both of the girls are sent into the air on the seats, Violet hitting her head against the roof.
"Ow!" Violet pouts, rubbing her head with her hand as she slaps Clementine's arm with the other, "Watch it, asshole."
"You're the one distracting me with your cute ass comments!" her girlfriend retorts playfully, rolling her eyes as she starts to slow down the car and pulls into a parking lot. Violet's eyes widen when she looks outside the window.
"Are we finally here?" she asks enthusiastically, opening the door before Clementine had even fully parked the car yet. She jogs towards the sign at the entrance and she turns around to wait for Clementine, who joins by her side a few moments after. Clementine grabs Violet's hand and intertwines their fingers, causing a small blush and smile to creep onto Violet's face.
"So, what does the sign say?" the shorter girl asks, mischievously smirking.
"Uh... 'No smoking and no trespassing'," Violet reads, "Oh."
