Violet bows her head as she copies notes from the whiteboard at the front of the class, Brody sits on the desk beside her, eagerly writing up notes from the two-hour English lecture. Violet drops her pen on her desk and sighs.

Brody lifts her head and looks over to her friend, eyebrows furrowed in concern, "are you okay?" she whispers to the blonde, tilting her head in confusion.

Violet looks back to her friend and smiles, "I'm fine," she states, stretching her arms out in front of her as she listens to the middle-aged woman teaching the class babble about classic texts of the 1900s. Violet turns back to Brody as she crosses her arms, "I've just got those post-holiday blues."

Brody exaggerates her nod as she blows out an exhale, "yeah," she mutters, "I've got those too." The auburn-haired girl clears her throat and leans over to Violet so she can lower her voice as she begins to speak once again. "Have you had any problems with Minerva since we got back?" she asks quietly.

Violet shakes her head as she exhales. She hates that everyone knows about how scheming Minerva is being. On one hand, Violet feels relieved to know that she has a handful of people on her side, but on the other, she'd prefer if not everyone knew about how much stress the redhead was inflicting on the new couple.

Violet simply shakes her head in response. Brody sits back in her chair with a soft smile.

"So," says Brody with a whisper, "you and Clem planning on carrying on your romance, it wasn't just a summer fling?" Violet looks at her friend, almost offended.

"Yes, Brody, it's not just a summer fling," replies Violet as she blushes and turns to look at her notes, speaking her next sentence into her textbook, "we're in love with each other." Brody smiles to hear her friend say that and she goes to speak once more before a loud voice catches her attention.

"Miss Adlon, Miss Burress, can I please direct your attention to the lecture you're attending. Use your free periods to gossip, not my classroom."

Brody slinks back in her seat as her face turns red at the embarrassment of being caught out in front of the whole lecture hall. Violet just shakes her head and turns back to her notes as the teacher huffs and continues the lecture.

Violet pulls on the earing in her lobe as she looks at the large clock above the whiteboard. She's only been at the university for an hour and a half, yet it feels like her whole day has unravelled here.

Something tells her this day is only going to drag further.

Clementine and Louis sit in the sun on the marble steps of the auditorium while they sip on their iced drinks from the student union coffee shop. Clementine looks out to the grassy field where students are soaking up the late May sunshine and gossiping to their friends.

For her first day back after the holiday, Clementine is glad that it's been a rather uneventful one. Her two-hour history lecture was turned into an open study session by the substitute teacher who didn't care enough to deliver an informative lecture. Many students just got up and left, feigning trips to the cafeteria for water or making excuses that they didn't feel well so they could leave the room. Minerva was one of these students. The redhead had made sure to brush her fingertips over Clementine's arm as she'd walked out of the lecture hall.

Clementine had made sure to direct her best scowl at her.

Beside her, Louis sets down his empty drink and flicks through his history notes from his morning one to one with Mr Everett. "It was so weird being at your house without you there Clem," he says as he folds the paper and stuffs it back into his satchel.
