Clementine squints at the notice board outside of her father's lecture room. The outline of the groups are printed into the ink of the page. So far, no students names are on the paper. Her father must be planning on telling the students the groups once the class commences.
Louis nudges Clementine's shoulder, pulling her attention from the board in front of her.
"Do you think we'll end up in a group together?" He asks as he leans against the wall.
Clementine smiles as she looks at him, "I would be surprised if we were, dad knows we're friends and this project counts towards our final grade. I imagine he'll make sure we're as far away from each other as possible."
"Shame," says Louis as he strokes his cheek with his pointer finger while he ponders. "The presentation would be wild."
"Well you don't need me to make it wild," says Clementine with a grin, "I'm sure you'll do that all on your own."
Louis dramatically mimes straightening a tie at his neck, "of course I will," he says with a smirk. His expression falls slightly as he watches Clementine's brow furrow.
"You're worried aren't you?" He says as he watches Clementine's brown eyes flit up and down the corridor, searching for someone. Someone she really doesn't want to see at all.
"Uh, yeah I guess, I haven't told my dad about any of this. Not the fact that Minerva is sort of Violet's ex or the fact that she's ruining our relationship and she trashed my room yesterday." Clementine sighs, long and drawn out as she rests her head against the notice board.
"I don't want him to pair me up with her."
"Would he?" Louis questions.
Clementine opens her eyes and shrugs her shoulders, "depends if he thinks we're at the same academic level, she's not a grade-A student but neither am I now thanks to all these distractions."
"Distractions?" Louis asks with a grin.
Clementine turns around and leans her back against the notice board, all the while watching the clock tick closer towards their 9 am lecture. "You know," she mutters, "good distractions like being with Violet, and bad distractions like Minerva ruining everything."
Louis frowns as he watches Clementine furrow her eyebrows under the stress she's feeling. "Do you want me to talk to her? Or ask Mitch too? Apparently, Sophie and Mitch are together now, maybe he will be able to talk some sense into Minerva."
The brunette shakes her head in a no and a few coils of her wavy hair fall around her face with the movement. "If anyone's going to talk to her I think it should be me."
Louis seems slightly taken aback and for a moment looks for the right words. "I thought every time you talk to her you just end up with her deeper under your skin." Louis pauses as he glances around the school, "also will Violet be okay with that?"
Clementine rubs the toe of her boot into the squeaky floor below. "She's not happy about it, but she said she wouldn't try and stop me if I thought talking to Minerva would help."
The bell rings and Clementine pushes herself off the wall. Students all press against the line as they queue to enter the lecture hall. Mr Everett strides past them with a bundle of papers and files secured beneath his arm. Clementine sucks in a breath as she prepares herself for the worst.
"Would you ever tell your dad?" asks Louis as he leans closer to Clementine's ear.
They take a step closer to the classroom, Clementine looks up ahead and spots Minerva's crimson red hair further up the queue. The brunette blows out her breath as she gets closer to the lecture, closer to the room that she'll be trapped in with Minerva for the next two hours. She looks over her shoulder to Louis as she thinks, "maybe," she mumbles.
