It takes over an hour for Lee to drive Clementine and Violet back from the hospital, and the brunette is uncomfortable for the whole car ride.

Her stitches ache with every bump in the road, and at the back of her mind, her thoughts twist as she tries to figure out what Violet could be sorry for. Clementine chews her lip as she thinks over the worst-case scenario. As she glances over at Violet and takes in the small frown carried in her eyes and the way Violet's hand is wrapped around her own, she can't imagine that it was another kiss with Minerva. Or at least she hopes it wasn't. Clementine chews the inside of her cheek as she rethinks the text message Violet sent her, Clementine I'm really sorry, I had no other choice.

No other choice. No. Other. Choice.

Clementine audibly sighs as she concludes that Violet must have spoken to Minerva, just like Louis said she was doing. The sound draws her father's attention, and he adjusts his rear-view mirror as he looks at Clementine.

"Are you doing okay sweetpea?" he questions, his voice laced with concern. Clementine turns to look at Violet, who seems equally concerned. God, she wishes that she could just get home so she can talk to Violet alone, without her father lingering nearby.

"I'm okay," replies Clementine, "I'm just a bit sore."

Lee nods and looks back to the road ahead, "I'm sorry the traffic is bad, we should be back in a few minutes."

The brunette nods and feels Violet tighten her grip on her fingers, her eyes flutter open, and she turns her head. She desperately scans Violet's face for any clues as to what might have happened earlier that day. The blonde looks at her lap before gingerly meeting Clementine's eyes, a small smile appears at the corner of her mouth. The brunette lowers her gaze and returns the gesture, still feeling unsure about everything.

The car jerks and stutters as Lee indicates onto the driveway and applies the brake. Finally relieved to have made it home the teenager lets her head fall against the headrest. "I have to go and get AJ from school," explains Lee as he leans over the front seat of the car to address the girls, "are you okay to take her inside Violet?"

The blonde unbuckles her seatbelt as if to answer Lee's question, and Clementine pushes herself up against the seat while she waits for Violet to move around to her side door. Finally, she thinks as she trains her eyes on her girlfriend. Finally, she can sit down and talk to Violet.

The blonde takes Clementine's arm and helps her out of the car, "I've got that," says Violet with a smile as she gestures to the hospital bag by Clementine's feet. The brunette smiles and leans against Violet as the blonde guides her towards the house, behind them Lee's car rolls back out of the driveway and speeds off down the main road.

Violet bears the brunt of Clementine's weight as she helps her manoeuvre the stone steps to her front door, occasionally she glances at the brunette and smiles as she takes in her soft features and golden eyes. Clementine catches onto Violet's stare and turns her head, offering a small smile of her own. Violet feels a little more assured, even though she knows that Clementine must be feeling worried about the text.

"I'm glad you're here with me," says Clementine as she waits for Violet to unlock the front door. She smiles weakly at the blonde feeling relieved that they're finally alone together. Over the entire course of her treatment, all Clementine has wanted was to be alone with Violet.

All she wants is to spend time with her girlfriend without the whirring of hospital machinery and the constant presence of numerous doctors and nurses. At home, Lee and AJ prevent the couple from spending any time together, though under the cover of night they often end up in the same bed.
