It's cold the next day at the university.
Violet sits on the auditorium steps as she looks out at the students spending their lunch gossiping and loitering by the entrance doors. The blonde sighs and bites into her apple as she scans the courtyard for any of her friends. Clementine is still recovering in hospital, and the university doesn't feel the same without her.
Violet breathes in deeply and takes another bite from the apple in her palm. She casually checks the time and inhales once again as she feels the panic rise through her body. Soon she'll be talking to someone she really doesn't want to, and to make it worse, Clementine has no idea she's gone behind her back.
Staring into space, Violet barely notices a figure approaching her until the girl standing in front of her clears her throat. "Sorry is this a bad time?" questions the teen.
Violet looks away from the school field and back to the speaking teen. She frowns at Stephanie. "I need to be somewhere in a minute, but I can talk for a bit."
"Okay good," says Stephanie as she sits beside the blonde. "I'm really sorry," says the younger girl as she turns to face Violet, "I don't actually know your name, it starts with a V, right?"
Violet bites into her apple and nods, "it's Violet," she says after she wipes her mouth on her sleeve.
Stephanie nods, feeling assured. "Okay, and you're Clementine's girlfriend?"
"I am," answers Violet, feeling slightly annoyed as the other teenager continues to pester her with questions.
Stephanie sighs and lays her hands flat against her lap, "okay," she mutters, "I just wanted to say that I'm sorry about what happened." She shakes her head, and her brunette hair falls over her shoulder, she tucks it behind her ear, revealing her face once again. "Clementine was saying she didn't feel well, and I was too bothered about my grade to pay attention to her."
"I know you don't really know Clementine," says Violet quietly, "but she wouldn't over exaggerate something like that." Violet stiffens as a cold blast of wind catches her off guard, it's early June now, yet the weather seems to have turned. "You should have at least tried to catch her as she passed out," says Violet with a cold tone to her voice. She watches Stephanie's face all and frowns slightly.
"I know I'm so sorry, it all happened so fast," explains Stephanie as she chews the inside of her cheek. Her shoulders rise and fall as she slowly inhales and blows out her breath. "Is she okay?" she asks, and Violet notes how shaky her voice sounds.
"Clementine is going to be okay," says Violet with a small smile, "she hates that she's been stuck in the hospital for the past two days, but she's coming home this evening."
Stephanie exhales as though Clementine's condition has been the only thing she's been thinking about for the past two days. "I do feel terrible," says the other girl once more, "it's been playing on my mind a lot."
"Oh well," says Violet as she throws her half-eaten apple into the nearby bin. "it's all in the past now."
Stephanie nods and the two young adults are quiet for a while. While Violet isn't against Stephanie trying to get to know her, she doesn't really feel in the mood. Not with her nerves so high when it comes to the talk that she'll be having in a handful of minutes.
"I feel like I should tell you something," says Stephanie, she draws out the words as her nerves overcome her. Violet turns her head and frowns.
"What?" says the blonde, feeling annoyed already.
The girl with the dark hair shrinks back and crosses her arms, "it's just... I think something is going on between Minerva and Clementine."
Violet exhales, and Stephanie looks at her in confusion, "you're not upset by that?" she questions.
