The cold wind bled through the hills in the distance as the horizon was covered in a silken layer of fog. Early in the morning the water remained smooth and unbroken, providing an aesthetically satisfying reflection of the world around it. Stepping out onto the jetty was stepping into a new universe, serenity forced its way inside your mind as it drowned you in the beauty of the landscape and the stillness settled the racing thoughts of negativity that were fighting to escape. With relaxed shoulders and mind you slowly strolled further out into the silence, desperate to drink more of the tranquility around you.

You sat down, swung your legs gently as you gazed down at the water. It was hard to imagine that something so life threatening could simultaneously soothe your soul. You swing your legs harder, wanting to dip into the enticing cold liquid below you, but you couldn't reach, and the secret anxiety of falling in prevented your body from going further like you knew it could. Taking a deep breath of the cool, clean air was refreshing and jump started your tired mind, washing away cobwebs of unwanted thought and procrastination. The open space was freeing and as you stood up to return to camp you could not go without turning back and admiring the lake's natural beauty once more.
