Zale's POV:
King Eric takes me to the dining room after he gives me fresh clothes to wear. They were alittle big, but I rather wear them than the sail. I try not to be disgust by the fact I'm wearing the king's clothes who tried to kill my mother with a ship.
I shiver when I remember him wrapping me in a hug. How much I wanted to push him off, but that might've blow my cover.
Ugh, touching! I think to myself as I sit myself down at the side of the table. In front of me was a plate of... what is that?
"Have you not have eggs before Zale?" King Eric asks from the head of the table, sitting right across from me.
I look up and give him a strain smile, "I have actually your Majesty, its just that..." I chuckle and spread my arms out, gesturing to our surroundings, "I never thought I will dine in the King's castle."
He waves me off, "Oh please Zale we are all just normal people."
I resisted to roll my eyes, "But your Majesty, normal people do not live in castles nor rule an entire kingdom." I point out.
"You do have a point, but deep down we are just the same as anybody else. If you take a knife and you cut me what will I bleed?"
I narrow my eyes at him, "... Blood?"
He nods, "And what color will it be?"
"Red."
Is he trying to tempt me into cutting him with a knife right now?
"Yes, and if you cut a man from a town, what will he bleed?"
"Red blood. Your Majesty what does this have to do with anything?" I ask, trying not to show my impatience.
"What I'm trying to say Zale is that we are all the same. We are made up from the same substance. We may have different beliefs, color, culture, come from different families but we all bleed the same and we are all in it together."
I frown, "Um... Okay your Majesty," was all I said. In my head I was screaming, Why in the world are you telling me this?! I don't care! You are still my enemy!
He looks like he was gonna say something else, but the door open and I never been so happy for an interruption.
Queen Ariel and Princess Lana waltz in, wearing pretty dresses. Lana smiles at me and she sits next to me while Queen Ariel sits next to her husband.
Since Lana sat so close to me, our elbows graze each other. She didn't seem to notice but I did. I tried not to shudder. Instead as subtly as I can, I scoot my chair away, putting distance between us.
She looks at me and I smile, "Sorry, I just like to have my personal space, your Highness."
She nods in understanding, "Mom, this is Zale, he rescued me from the storm in Exile Waters."
Queen Ariel smiles, "Thank you so much Zale, for bringing our daughter back home safe and sound."
I give her a strain small smile, "Please it was nothing your Majesty."
"Were you on the ship, Zale?" She asks, "I don't remember seeing you on board."
I nod, "Yes, my Queen. I was below deck most ot the time. When the storm hit, I went overboard and I was seperated from the crew, then I found Princess Lana and swimmed both of us back here."
Her eyes widen in surprise, "You swam all the way from Exile Waters to here? You must be exhausted!"
"I am alittle tired, but I'm used to swimming for miles actually." I stand up, "If you'll exuse me your Highnesses, I do have to get going. I have to find me a place to stay until I find me a ship that sails to Femos. My family lives near there."
The Queen rises, "You can stay here Zale, its the least we can do. But I am sad to say that the ship you went on was our only departure to Femos. You'll have to wait until Captain Gibson returns, I am sure he is in Femos, notifying the King about the storm."
My eyes widen, "You will let me stay?" I ask in disbelief.
She smiles, "Yes, like I said its the least we can do."
"And when will Captain Gibson be back, your Majesty?"
"About a week and a half, or possibly a week, if you're lucky," answers the King.
I nod, "Thank you again you Majesties. I appreciate it alot."
"Lana," says the King, "Will you show Zale to the best guest room in the castle?"
Lana nods excitedly, "I'll be happy to. Follow me Zale!" She stands up and takes my hand and leads me out of the dining room. She doesn't look at me to see the victories smirk on my face. Knowing I had them where I want them.
******
Uh oh... Looks like the royal family are in deep trouble. But will King Eric's weird pep talk make Zale think?I honestly have no idea where in the Hades I was going with that... But I hope it'll come in handy in the future.
