Lana's POV:
We crept silently to the entrance and poke our heads to look out into the ocean to see Ursula speaking to my parents and grandpa who stand a gew feet away from her, keeping their distance.
Mom! Dad! I think, wanting so bad to tell them I'm okay and to get back. I squeeze my throat, feeling useless.
Zale pulls both of us back inside before we could be seen. "You're going to swim as fast as you can. If we get caught, keep going. I'll distract them. Serenia, don't let Lana out of your sight. Get her to safety."
I touch my throat, frowning. What about my voice? I think.
"I'll get your voice back when you're safe. Your safety is more important to me right now. Alright get ready." He takes my hand in his. I then realize this is the first time ever, he's done that. I always took his hand in mine.
He looks around the corner, making sure Ursula isn't looking in our direction. His grip on my hand tightens, but not enough to hurt. "Lets go." He pulls me along with Serenia swimming behind us.
I kept glancing back, thinking Ursula is staring at us, but she never is; she's too busy talking to my family, but then mom looks up. She sees us escaping. Her eyes widen with shock and relief, but she quickly looks down so she wouldn't blow our cover.
She knows. I think. Now they can leave.
"You've got to be bloody kidding me." Zale says, I turn my gaze forward to see a group of seven sirens.
I freeze paralyze. I've heard of them. They seduce sailors on ships to come to them, showing their deepest desire before the sailors would crash their ships into sharp rocks and the sirens get to have a buffet.
One siren stands in the center, with her sisters behind her. She glares daggers only at Zale. "You killed my sister in cold blood now we will do the same with you and feast on your bones. Sisters, get him!"
As they approach us fast, Zale shoves me toward his cousin, Serenia. "Get her out of here!" He orders.
Serenia grabs me by the arm and pulls me away. The sirens ignore us as if we were nothing. They only want Zale.
I pull on Serenia's arm, she looks at me. "Come on! Zale will have my throat if I let you get kill."
I point at the sirens. They're not after us! We can't leave him alone!
She looks around and sees a larger boulder. She pulls me to it and we hide behind it. I glance over the boulder having a perfect view of Zale and the sirens.
He shows no fear as they surround him like sharks. Growling and squealing with delight. Thinking they had him right where they wanted him.
He looks at them calmly, "Wow ladies, you must be so desperate to see your sister again. Don't worry though I'll kill all of you quick."
The leader of the sirens laugh, "We have you outnumbered Zale. Theres no way you can kill all of us at once."
He smirks, "You underestimate me Cassandra. I'll kill you slowly and painful." He taps his chin thoughtfully. "Lets see... Ooh I know."
He closes his eyes and thats when Cassandra shows her panic, "Stop him!" She screams.
The sirens all swim towards Zale, but before they could touch him, a flash of blue light burst from him. Blowing them back like a wave.
They collect themselves, but shriek in horror and pain as they look at each other to see their sisters crumble to ash til they were all gone. Except for Cassandra who's face shows shock and fear.
"What did you do to my sisters?!" She shriek as she swims to Zale and grabs him by the shoulders. I can see her talons dig into his skin, but he shows no emotion.
Zale laughs however this laughter was one I never heard before. It sounds heartless. "Easy, Cassandra," he says with venom. "They went to join their sister in Hell."
He takes Cassandra hands off his shoulder as she starts wailing with grief. He smiles at her as he place his hand over her head and closes his eyes to chant.
Light glow from his hand and the wails of sorrow turn into shrieks of pain. I cover my ears to block our the horrid sound.
I watch in a daze when the siren starts to turn into stone from the waist up. Then when she was fully frozen stiff Zale took his hand away. Swim back a few feet and watch the stone siren sink to the ocean floor. He watch with boredom before he snap his fingers.
The snap echo around the ocean and the stone siren bursts with explosion. Rocks and pebbles float in various directions.
I stand frozen in place. Paralyze with shock. I look at Zale's face. I can see his expression. Cold. Heartless. No remorse at all. Just... nothing.
"Come on, princess." Serenia says softly as she takes my arm and shakes me out of my daze.
I pulled away like she burned me. How do I know I can trust them? What if they kill me just like Zale kill those sirens.
I slowly swim away. Zale approaches us and fear claw its way through my throat.
He looks at me then Serenia. "I told you to get her out of here." He hisses and I flinch like his tone cut through me.
"I tried!" Serenia defends, "But she didn't want to leave you."
Zale looks at me and his face softens. "Lana... Its okay. I'm still me. Im still Zale."
I look into his eyes. I was almost convince, but I look behind him to see the remains of the stone siren. And flashes of what he did bursts through my brain. The shrieks of the sirens ring in my ears.
I shake my head and swim back more. Zale's face fell. "Lana, you don't have to be afraid. I will never hurt you."
But you did. A voice says in the back of my mind. You tricked me. You stomp on my heart like it was nothing.
As I'm distracted with my thoughts, I didn't realized he crept closer and touched my arm. Fear erupt through my body and I pushed him away, hard.
"Stay back!" I mouth to him as I swim back further away. Wanting to put as much distance as possible. "Don't touch me!"
I look in his eyes to see hurt. I look away when I feel my eyes brim with tears. My stomach twists and I feel sick.
"Lana," Zale says and I choke at the sound of his voice fill with hurt, suddenly his eyes widen in shock. He tries to grab me, but arms wrap around my waist like a snake and pulls me away from him.
I silently scream in shock and fear. I hear laughter from behind me and my heart stops.
We've been caught.
