Lana's POV:
I smile at grandfather, "Do you want me to get mother real quick?"
Grandfather nods, "Yes can you?"
"No need to," a voice says from behind me. I turn around to see my mom standing at the docks, "I had a feeling you were here, father."
Mom approaches and looks at Zale and I, "Why don't you two go inside so I can tell my father something."
I frown, but nod, "Okay. Come on Zale," I take his hand in mine. I notice however that he was tense until I lead him away from the shore. Once we reach the marble wall, I press my back to the wall and pull him next to me. Stretching my arm over his chest to hold him back.
"Wha-" he says, but I shush him before I peek around the corner. We were in earshot and out of eyesight. "Lana," he whispers, "What are we doing?"
I clamp my hand on his mouth, "It's called spying. And it does not include talking unless you want to get caught. The only people who talk in this situation are the people who we're spying on. So shh!"
He glares at me and grumbles something. "Shh! There's something going on. Grandfather never visits twice a week. Something's wrong in Atlantica."
I take my hand away from his mouth and peek around the corner. Mom was sitting in the sand with grandfather still in the water. His face seem concern over whatever they were talking about.
"So the rumors are true then?" Mom asks fiddling with her red hair.
Grandfather nods, "It would seem so. A source says she was spotted near her old hideout scavenging for something. By the time I got there she was gone and we don't know what she grabbed."
Mom shakes her head, "Is there anything you can do?"
Grandfather sighs, "Even if I did go to Exile Waters, I'm powerless there. My magic won't work."
Mom groans, "What can we do then? Just sit and wait for her to attack?"
"No, not just sit and wait. You prepare. Makesure to have guards at stand by. Plus, we are not even sure if she'll attack. Maybe she needed an ingrediant to make her younger or to do her hair.
"The point is, we do not know if she'll attack. And we can't go up to her and say she is planning to attack if we have no proof. Just be prepare. That's all I'm telling you to do. If anything happens use the conch sell horn. Okay?"
Mom nods, "Yes father."
Grandfather then smiles, "You know who's fun I interrupted when I arrived?"
"No, who?" Mom asks with a small smile.
"Lana and her new friend. They seem to be having so much fun that they didn't even see me watching with amusement. I must say she sure reminds me of you when you were her age. Daydreaming of romance and whatever you teenage girls daydream about." He laughs.
I feel myself blush, when he said 'romance'. I did not risk looking at Zale.
Well this was a bad idea.
Mom laughs along with him, "I know. She does get that from me." She shakes her head.
Before they can say anymore embarrssing things about me; I turn around to Zale. "Well we better get going now!" I whisper, "Nothing else here, let's go." I start shoving him away, trying to get him out of earshot.
He laughs to himself, I feel his whole body vibrate underneath my hands.
"Shh! They can still hear us!" I snap as I push him up the staircase and into the castle. I drop my hands to my side, "Now you can laugh your head off while I try to regain my diginity." I said, turning around to leave, but then I feel a warm hand grab my wrist and I turned to Zale.
Zale had humor in his stormy grey eyes. His silver hair spike upward and his pale cheekbones were tinted red. "Actually I find that kinda cute instead of embarrassing. And besides I wouldn't mind being in your romantic daydreams. I have a couple of daydreams myself with you in them."
I hadn't realize that he step closer til I felt his finger slide down my cheek. He places a loose hair string behind my ear and stares deep in my eyes. I feel my heart beating like I'm running and goosebumps erupt on my arm.
Oh my... He has beautiful eyes! Is he? Is he about to kiss me? Ahh!
He looks hestiant. His eyes gaze into mine. Looking for a sign of permission.
But I am not good at signs, however I do believe I am good with actions.
I slip my hand behind his neck slowly, I hear him breathe in a breath as I press my lips to his.
