Zale's POV:
Mother claps her hands, "Excellent! Zale, guard the spoil brat while the master works." She takes Lana's face in her hands and squeezed her cheeks. "Ooh I've been waiting for this day for so long." She laughs shaking Lana's head before lettng her go. And leaving us alone.
I look at Lana to see her already glaring. Her gaze was so sharp I can imagine this cutting me.
I fiddle with my fingers and bite my lip. I feel awkward right now and I don't know why.
Do I feel guilty? I think to myself. Then shake my head. No. I can't doubt myself because of some girl. That's weakness. Villains don't show weakness nor pity.
I look up at Lana once again. She was looking down at her new tail with awe. Like she couldn't believe it. Her red hair float around her. She swishes her tail to the side and bubbles erupt from the movement.
But she's not some girl... She's Lana. The girl who show true kindness and gratitude to me. She made me feel things I never felt before. She showed me her world and let me be part of it.
And from the time I spent time with her, I realized that she is not really as manipulative and evil as mother told me.
I groan as I drag my hands down my face. I feel my tentacles swirl around me furiously. Showing my frustration.
I squeezed my eyes shut and all I can see was her smile when we visit those orphans yesterday. How she took care of me when I was sick. The kiss we shared in the map room that felt so long ago.
How she took my breath away when I saw her on the ship. Looking so beautiful as she look out into the ocean. The wind blowing through her red updo hair.
This is wrong. She doesn't deserve this. I have to get her out of here. Now.
I open my eyes to look at Lana. She frowns before she opens her mouth to speak, but her face falls when she remember she can't speak. She growls, also showing her frustration. She then struggles against her restraint.
I swim closer to her til I was standing in front of her. She glares at me and pushes herself against the wall.
I close my eyes and chanted under my breath. When I open them I heard a snap, Lana's face lights up when she takes her hands from behind her. Free from the restraints.
She looks up at me, raise her hand and slaps me across the face. My head turns to the side from the force.
"Can't say I didn't expect that." I said as I rub my cheek. "And can't say I didn't derserve."
She was breathing heavy, her chest rising and falling. She makes a gesture to her throat.
I sigh, "Mother has your voice. We'll have to get it back. But first we need to get you out of here."
"Well, well, look what the sea monster brought in." Says a familiar voice from behind me.
Lana's eyes widen and she quickly hide her hands behind her back. Looking as if she wasn't free just a minute ago. I turned around to see my cousin, Serenia.
She smiles, "Zale, its been miserable terrorizing the sirens without you. And thank you so much for leaving me with mommy. Y'know I had to to listen to her complaining day and night since she found out your mother had a plan for the Little Mermaid's family." Her green tentacles curl.
I swim closer to her. "Its great to see you too, dear cousin. But Im sorry I think I hear your mother calling. You should probably go see what she wants."
She ignores me as she swims around me to Lana. "Well look who it is. Princess Lana. Have you heard of me?"
Lana stares at Serenia, silent. Her hands still behind her back. She doesn't even look like she was breathing. Frozen. I was afraid she might past out.
"Don't talk much do you?" Serenia asks.
"Actually she has heard alittle bit of you from me. She says that maybe she'll meet you someday. She just didn't realized that that someday will come sooner than she expected. And mother traded her voice for a tail and ability to breathe underwater."
Serenia swims back to me. Her hands crossed over her chest with a frown on her face. "Zale... I saw what you did."
I intake a breath, "Serenia, trust me. Its the right thing to do."
She sneers, "The right thing to do is for you and your mother to get your revenge! Isn't that what you always wanted? What happened to the plan? What happened to you Zale?"
I pointed to Lana. "She happened to me. Serenia, she's not what we've been told. She's smart, kind, understanding, and amazing. She doesn't deserve this.
"Please help me get her out of here. Once we get her to safety we can both escape our parents." I grab her by the shoulders. "We can be free of this. Isn't that what you always wanted?"
She looks at Lana who was listening with wide eyes. Her hands were at her sides. Then at the entrance of the cave where Im sure mother is.
"Serenia?" I ask after a minute of silence. Knowing we were running out of time.
"If we get caught I was against this the whole time." She says finally.
Lana and I both broke out into a smile. "Thank you," I said as I brought her into a hug.
"Hey! We don't do hugs here, Zale! Thats for whimps!" Serenia squeals against my shoulder.
I released her. "Right sorry. Spent to much time with them. Lets go!"
