Dead bodies. Everywhere. They're everywhere. It's almost scary, but Kyle told me that Ares was proud of the work we accomplished. We've wounded their fleet enough. They went form 3 billion to 2 million in one day. If it wasn't for Ares answering my prayers we would've been dead meat. I finally found out Kyle's story too. He was 9 when he died and was a drummer boy in one of the many wars in our world when a tank accidentally ran him over. Yeah, doesn't make all that much sense, but you know what? He's a child who was sent to me by a God. I'm not going to judge. Also found out that after death, Kyle became Ares' right hand deliverer instead of Hermes. I guess him and Hermes had a fall out and this is what came of it. Again, I won't judge. The affairs of the Gods is not my business. I walk into the large building we've claimed as our base and look around. I want to talk to Jordan, but I'm afraid of what she'll do. I finally spot Jordan whose talking to James. I walk over cautiously.
"Hey, Jordan. How ya feeling?" Jordan keeps her eyes trained on the floor.
"Did you save Sammy?" She questions softly.
"Yes, but-"
"Then, it's okay. I'll be okay. It's just... I didn't want her to die in vain, but if you got Sammy back or accomplished anything then I know she didn't. I know you tried to keep your promise and I know it was difficult not knowing if Michil was telling the truth or not until it was too late." I have no idea how much James told her, but I'm relieved that I didn't have to tell her most of it. "Can I meet her?" Jordan finally looks up at me with those large mismatched eyes seem to show nothing, but strong willed confidence. I smile softly before nodding.
"Of course, you can. You're apart of our family just as much as anyone else in this room. Why shouldn't you be able to meet Sammy?" I chuckle.
"Cause she's most likely not going to make it through the week," Jack's voice echoes behind me. I abruptly turn.
"What do you mean? What the hell did they do to her?!" Jack seems very irritated and to say the least, I was starting to get a little irritated as well.
"It's not something they did, Jynx. I'm afraid this is from the atmosphere the books produced. Either we still all the books or she dies." I stare at him in shock and horror.
"Isn't there something we can do? Can't we reverse it somehow?" James questions.
"Reverse it? No, but there may be a way to hold it off for a while. Just long enough for her to live a normal live. Or as normal as she can anyway."
"What do we do?" I ask. Jack sighs before sitting down on the pathetic logs we dragged in to use as chairs.
"Jynx, this is extremely dangerous. Like more dangerous than the war we're fighting. You may not even get to the object in time!"
"What. Do. We. Do?" I ask slower and more irritated. Jack taps his foot on the ground for a moment almost as if debating whether to tell us or not.
"There's this realm that not many know about. It's known as Above Ground Level, but it's real name is Skymania. I'm not going to get into any details on what it looks like cause it's pretty obvious by the name. When you get there you have to talk to the tall green skinned man standing by the portal. Tell him you're looking for The Destructor of Books and if he doesn't take you then your daughter will die-"
"Do I seriously have to tell him that?" I whine.
"He's got a big heart. When he hears that he'll have no choice, but to take you to the Destructor of Books."
"Who is the Destructor of Books?" James asks.
"He's a warlock who is known for his healing abilities. If you can get to him and not die, he'll grant you one wish. All you have to do from there is wish for Sammy to live out the rest of her life and she should be fine!"
