Life needs a day to change...........
I never believed it until..... 17th July 2014
It all started as a normal day, but I didn’t know what destiny had in store for me. As I was going to school what else but the car I was in met with an accident and a disaster struck -a sudden turn and then my eyes opened in the hospital.
Well according to docs my car went and hit a truck causing this accident and my left leg to get paralyzed. Like everybody else in my family, I was also shocked. Not that my family is very large - just me, my dad and mom. Well the thought of not being able to move my left leg made my spine shiver. I couldn’t even imagine it and started crying bitterly.
So, now, Ella Robert would not be able to walk for the rest of her life. Actually may be or maybe not. I was sent home after a week and after I was able to understand the fact that I’ll not be able to move without a wheelchair or probably a support. See told you….life needs a day to change.
Welcome home!!!!!Oh! How I missed my house, the building with three floors, painted white with wines hanging all over window sills. A beautiful garden with an artificial lake, plants and a swing, was heaven in front of my house. How I hoped I could run again around the garden and fell the sensation of these beautiful thick carpets of grass. My mom took me to my room. Painted in purple with white curtains and my soft bed, my room was a lot better than that at the hospital with all white.
My mom helped me to the bed and sat next to me, with tears in her eyes she started to talk to me:
“I know darling, it’s difficult for you but trust me, it’s not easy for me and Robert also. You are our strength, seeing you like this is breaking us from inside.” Saying this she cupped my cheeks and kissed me on my forehead. Getting up from the bed she went towards the door, “call me if you need anything” and she left.
I finally remembered about my phone and picked up the receiver of my intercom and dialed moms’ room number. “Mom where is my phone?” I asked as soon as she picked it up. A little confused my mom started talking, “yes sweetie, don’t worry I have your phone. I’ll send it with dad.” Saying this she cut the call.
After waiting for ten minutes I heard a knock on my door followed by my dads’ voice “Here’s your phone Ella, the cops found it in the car and gave it to your mom. Don’t use it for a long time, you are still weak and need to rest. Need anything just give a call. ”Saying this he left but I could see tears in his eyes. I was there only child and I meant their world to them. Seeing me like this made them very sad, but they were happy that they still had me, their world hadn’t destroyed.
“Thanks dad.” I said as he moved towards the door.
I unlocked my iPhone and opened my messages. There were 2000 messages. I was too tired to read all of them so I just went through the names of the people who sent these messages. I saw my best friends name and my face started shining with relief that at least I could keep myself occupied with something or better with someone. Liana, my best friend. I missed her so much in the hospital where I was getting a headache sitting all alone and have no one to talk to. I could talk to my parents but I couldn’t. I didn’t want to see them even more upset after listening to me as my heart was pouring with emotion.
Her message read- “Where are you? Didn’t see you at school today. Are you alright??”
I replied “No, I’m not alright.”
And then I got a sudden reply. It was as if she was waiting to hear from me.
“Why not, is it something serious? Is it why you didn’t come to school for a week??”
“Well I can’t explain to you like this.”
“Fine I’m coming to your house. I’ll be there in 20 min. Bye!!”
God! How am I going to face Liana. She is so going to get a shock when she sees me like this. I’m a kind of person who cannot sit in a place for more than half an hour, and Liana knows me too well. Please god help Liana and give her strength to see me like this.
After the drama that took place in my heart and brain I went to check my messages inbox again. Messages from mobile company, Huston departmental store regarding sale, and so on didn’t entertain me enough.
My mom called from downstairs, “sweetie do you want something?”
“No mom, I’m alright. Thank you.”
“Ok.”
I didn’t had to wait for long time as I heard a knock on the door after about two minutes.
“El, are you inside?”
“Well yes, come in.”
Here comes Liana. I just hope she doesn’t freak out or pass out.
“Why haven’t you called me from so many days?” she asked standing near the door.
“If you come in front of me I won’t have to answer that thing, and it’ll be easy to understand.”
Coming forward, closer to me I could see the reaction on her face turning calmer. She got a shock when she saw me. I was pale and my eyes were red due to the crying. Plus my hair was in a mess.
“What the hell is wrong with you? Why do you look so pale? El, have you cried?” she blurted out in a single breath. I listened with my mouth shut, in awe. How does she manage to understand me so well and how fast can she talk?
“Ok. Li calm down and sit here.” I told her as I patted on the bed where there was place next to me.
Without another word Li obeyed me and sat next to me holding my hand. “Now will you tell me what’s wrong .This silence of yours is killing me.” With this I told her what I had gone through. Tears appeared in her eyes as she listened to me. When I finished she pulled me into a tight hug and wiped her tears.
“Don’t worry El, I’m sure you’ll walk again in a weeks’ time. Have you told him about this yet?”
“No, I don’t find the courage to do it. I just don’t want him to leave me.”
“I understand. Its ok.” she said putting her hands inside a cover and taking out something. “Wanna share vanilla dry fruit ice cream?”
“Isn’t that obvio, yes.”
Suddenly my phone rang and gave the sign of a message. I picked it up to check what it was.
“Haven’t seen you for a while now. Where are you? Are you alright?” My hands froze when I saw the name of the sender.
“El, who is it?” Liana asked as she saw me turn as red as a tomato.
“Well it’s ………..”
