I woke up in the middle of the night screaming. I saw a bad dream. Actually bad dream is not even the actual word, it was a terrible dream. I saw a car in which I was sitting and driving and then suddenly it collided with something then everything was blank. I realized it was not just a dream but my past. Yes, I still was haunted by that accident. That accident cost me my leg. It was a thing that I will never forget.
My mom came into the room, “Honey, are you alright?” she asked with a worried expression on her face. I nodded my head and she came closer to me. “Its ok honey, you can tell me about it.” Then she bent to give me a kiss but stopped half way through. She first touched my head and then my neck. The she called out, “Robert please give me the thermometer. I think Ella is running a fever.” I placed my hand on the forehead but could feel nothing. “Mom, I don’t have fever.” I told. She gave me a stare. Wow! Is it my fault if I get a fever and am not able to feel feverish?
After waiting for a few more minutes dad came into the room with the thermometer. My mom took my temperature and it was 104. “No more ice cream for a week.” My mom said looking annoyed. “But mommm….” I was stopped as my mom showed me her palm signaling me to stop. “Ok.” I said in defeat. My dad winked at me. Alright dad I’ll get back to you on this. The thing is that my ice cream habit is from my dad, so one enjoys the whole tub of ice cream if the other one doesn’t get to eat it.
After sometime I went back to sleep, but this time with my head resting on my mom’s lap. Now you may be thinking that I am a 4 year old, but to your dislike let me tell you that I felt very comfortable sleeping there. It was the safest place on Earth followed by Austen’s arm.
Good night once again………………..

I woke up in the morning when I heard someone open the door of my room, only to find it was mom. Wait, was I sleeping so deep that I didn’t realize when mom went. My mom came to me and took the thermometer from the side table to take my temperature. “Good morning sweetie.” She said and smiled. “Morning.” I answered.
She took my temperature and nodded, “I’ll get soup for you.” She said as she started to go towards the door. “Ella, this morning Austen came to pick you up and left that note for you when he came to know that you were not well and weren’t going to school today.” She said pointing towards a paper on the side table and then left the room closing the door behind her.
I looked at the note and then went to pick it up. I opened it to read it.
‘Get well soon, babe. Missing you already. Take care.
-Austen’
Aweeee…. That’s so cute.I thought of texting him right away telling him that I got the noteI took my iPhone from the side table and opened the messages app. I typed a simple message, just, ‘Miss u too.’ And sent it to him.
“Darling, hers your soup.” My mom said reentering my room with a tray in her hand. “Thanks mom.” I replied with a smile on my face as she laid the tray in front of me.
She smiled back at me and sat next to me as I began drinking my soup. She sat there for some time and then started talking, “Ella we need to go to the doctor for your routine check.” And then got up from where she was sitting. “Get ready by 4 ok.” I saw her and cocked an eyebrow, “Yup.”

I got a text from Austen after some time asking if I was feeling better. I sent a reply immediately….
Me: ‘Yes. So are you having lunch with your gang?’
Him: ‘Yaaa. Who else?’
Me: ‘You know, maybe another girlfriend or something.’
