ANOTHER CHANCE

Just Another Day

Li took me inside the house and we went to my room. Li was sleeping in my house. I changed and we were sitting on my bed when my iPhone rang, and guess who the caller was, “Hello! Did you reach home?" I asked. "Just reached." Austen answered from the other side. "What are you doing?" he asked. Liana raised one of her eyebrows and took the phone from me. "Hey! Give back my phone." She grinned at me. "What’s up Mr. Romeo? Do you mind talking to your Juliet tomorrow? I want to talk to her now. See ya tomorrow." Then there was silence for some time, I think Austen was talking. Li answered “OK, but only for 5 minutes.” then handed the phone to me.

I woke up all fresh and energized. Sunlight was pouring into my room through the windows. My room looked beautiful in its purple shade. I woke up Li who was sleeping next to me. She shifted a little and put a pillow on her head to cover her face from the light and then catnapped. ‘God! Why is it soooooo difficult to wake her up?’

As if listening to my thoughts, she removed the pillow from her head and opened her eyes and questioned, “What time is it?” I picked up my phone from the side table and saw the time as my eyes widened. “Get up, we’re late, it’s 8:30.We only have half an hour to get ready, Austen will be here by 9.” She pounced up “What the hell…, let’s get movin.”

I was all ready for school, but I had somebody waiting for me for a long time, if that’s what 10 mins is. As soon as I went down I saw Austen waiting for me on the living room sofa. I went inside with Li pushing me on the wheelchair. As soon as I entered the room the faces turned towards me. Austen got up from the sofa and came towards me, “Hey beautiful! How are you this morning?” and sat on his knees in front of me. “I am great, now can we go cause I don’t want to be late for school, which I think I already am.” I answered grabbing his hand and pointing towards the watch he was wearing. He looked absolutely delicious. His golden brown eyes as innocent as possible, which I knew he wasn’t, he was a devil from inside with all his pranks and the pervert he was. OK, OK I know he wasn’t pervert yesterday night but he used to be the bad boy of the school, almost, one of them, but he changed because of me, now that’s what I think. Coming back, he was wearing a light blue checked shirt with some of his buttons on the top opened, showing a little of his well-built body and a dark blue jeans.

He stretched his arms sideward and the other one on his chest and bent down his head, “Your wish is my command. Lets go.” Li and I chuckled at that one. “Yup!” I answered and we went towards the entrance. “Bye mom!” I shouted as I went out of the house.

We went towards Austen’s SUV and he turned towards Li. “Thanks Li, I’ll take it from here.” Li gave a stare, “Excuse me people, but, I’m coming with the two of you.” I saw her giggling and understood what she was doing. “Chill out man, just kidding.” Austen gave a smile and started helping me get inside the car. “Bye” Li shouted and went towards the other direction.

We reached school and the first bell rung. We went inside the school building to find lots of people on the corridor, just as expected. A lot of people I knew, another lot of which I didn’t know and some more people whom I knew but they were not so close. All were eyeing me as if I had murdered somebody. The memories I had spent in school came to my mind one by one, when I first met Liana and Jon, when we became best friends from friends and then BFF’s; when I realized I had a crush on Austen; all my sweet and bitter memories came back to me.

And then in middle of all the stares a figure came and stood in front of us, he was staring at me and the shouted, “What the hell is wrong here.” And guess who it was, Ethan, Austens best friend.

Austen Gave him a stare and then came the principals voice, “What’s going on here, leave her alone.” And there she was standing and looking at me with love.

Finally school got over. It was not as difficult as I thought it would be to come back to school, in fact it was fun. No body treated me as a disabled person; they treated me as they treated me earlier.

I went towards my locker and there Austen was, leaning against my locker with his ear plugs on. I entered and smiled at him. He took his ear plugs off and came towards me, “How was your day babe?” he asked and bent down to kiss me on my forehead. I blushed. He moved away and gave me a grin. “So far so good, why?” He took the books from my hand and went towards my locker. He opened the locker and kept my books inside then locked it. He turned towards me and said, “I’ll drop you home.” I didn’t want to go home when everything was going on so well. “I don’t want to go home so early Austen.” He cocked an eyebrow, “Then what do you want to do Ella?” and then gave a devilish grin. He is such a pervert. But still, I love him, more than anything else.

 Austen’s POV

We were lying on the soft emerald grass at the Rims Park, enjoying the sunset. Ella’s head was rested on my abdomen while I was playing with her hair with one hand and the other was under my head giving it support.

Ella didn’t want to go home so early and I wanted to stay with her as much as possible so we decided to come here. Everything was beautiful the climate, the sunset, the chirping of the birds and most importantly Ella. How could she be so beautiful, so gorgeous was the first question that came into my mind as soon as I saw her this morning. She was wearing a white tee with a black seep through jacket that came till her waist and there it was tied, showing off her perfect curves with a grey shorts under it.

We were talking about, who cares, I was never paying attention. I was just enjoying this movement with Ella, letting her do all the talking and playing with her soft golden brown hair. And then as if the Gods were going crazy it started raining heavily. I got up and lifted Ella the bridal style and ran towards the car.

It was indeed an excellent day. We were sitting at the café enjoying our hot chocolate and the rain outside when my phone rang. It was Steve calling, “Yes, Steve” I answered the call getting up from the seat.

“Good afternoon sir. The parcel just arrived, do you want me to send it to you?” I knew it was about the parcel, and that’s why I moved from my seat. I turned around to look at Ella, only to find her sitting there and smiling at me. “I don’t think I need it right now Steve, keep it my room, I’ll come back and take a look at it.” “Very well sir and sorry for disturbing you” I looked at Ella again and gave her a smile. “Never mind that.” And then cut the call. I went back to my seat and we continued our chats.
