District 24: Ichigo's Strange Encounter

That morning, Mikoto Misaka entered the Fairy Tail Guild Hall wearing a cap over her head and wearing a rather long trench coat she had borrowed from Aiko. While nobody would have noticed the hat that much, as Mikoto sometimes wore one during the week as a change of pace, and in celebration of the fact she didn't have to wear a uniform in her high school like they did back at Tokwadai, the trench coat was a new one.. so was the shifty embarrased look as if she were hiding something.

"Calm down Mikoto, you've only got an hour left till that it dissapears." said Lucy. "And if it was only Touma who saw it, it's not that embarrassing.. I mean he's your boyfriend."

Mikoto shook her head fervently. "I don't think I'll be at ease until it finally falls off.."

"Hey Mikoto!" The pink haired boy wearing a scarf known as Natsu Dragneel ran over. "Oh wow! Is that like your detective clothes or something!? Do you have a bubble pipe!?"

"She's been secretive all mornin' " said Kenpachi who entered the guild hall behind them. "I didn't even get to fight anybody.."

As it turned out, now the Soul Reapers had decided to do a lot of gaurd shift changes, as the Captains all had different duties they needed to do back in Soul Society. And lo and behold, Kenpachi was the gaurd for today.. while of course Ichigo and Rukia were also gaurds.. but the third person was the only one they ever shifted.

"Well today's the day.." said an armored scarlet haired girl, Erza Scarlet, who walked over. "I have to say, I've been reading the new rules, and the changes they've made are quite amazing.."

"Yeah, the schools are going to be competeing in events together all day, then it'll leave a few hours for us to prepare for the games.." said Touma. "Hey Mikoto.. you're going to have to change into your athletic clothes in a few minutes, our school's scheduled to compete soon, we don't want to let down Ms. Komoe or anything.."

"T-Touma.. I don't think I'll be going.." said Mikoto.

"Aw..come one.. it's not that bad." said Touma. "Just tuck the tail in and keep wearing that hat and you'll be fine."

"Tail...?" said Natsu. "Keep wearing the hat?.. wait a second.."

Natsu inched his hand over and pulled the hat off of Mikoto's head to reveal the two fluffly cat ears.

Erza and Natsu just stared for a minute while Kenpachi raised an eyebrow.

"Wow Sparky!" Yachiru popped up from Kenpachi's back. "You're mutating into a kitty!"

"No... it's some sort of cursed item this weirdo gave her as a 'gift'." said Touma. "It's supposed to come off in an hour or so... but until then.. er.."

"You mentioned a tail." said Erza eyeing the trench coat. "Oh.. now I see.."

"P-please Erza.. just take your sword and cut it off.." Mikoto begged. "Just cut these stupid ears and that stupid tail off!"

Mikoto took off the trench coat and the cat tail arched up and twitched. "Just cut it off!!"

"I would." said Erza. "But I'm not sure how this curse works, I might end up hurting you, it's safer if we just let the thing run it's course."

"M-MIKOTO!?"

Eolas had arrived in the guild hall, behind him in her Soul Reaper kimono and looking rather surprised at this strange scene, was Sarah Walker..

"Wow.." said Eolas going red. "Wow... just w-"

"WHAM!!"

Mikoto punched Eolas straight in the face. "STOP LOOKING AT IT!!!"
