"Well, I think we should get a little something to celebrate Fairy Tail's tie for the lead."

Mikoto and Natsu were walking down the streets of Academy City alone. Everyone was just so tired from that day's excitement, and busy trying to figure out Ichigo's situation, that Mikoto felt like she needed a walk, then Natsu offered to come along.

"Get something?" Natsu asked. "Like what? Donuts?"

"I don't know, and only you would want donuts.." said Mikoto. "Donuts are good, but I think we need something special. Like a big cake."

"Yeah! We could bake one!" said Natsu with a grin. "And then I could eat it!"

"B-but I'm a terrible baker.." said Mikoto with a frown. "Erm.. maybe I could get Saten to help out... again."

"Hey.." said Natsu, his expression suddenly turning serious. "What's that? Over there?"

Mikoto turned to look at where Natsu was looking, and nearly gasped in absolute horror. Sitting against a dumpster in an alleyway, was a very ragged looking Hawk Ellenor, sleeping under a pile of filthy blankets, her hair disheveled, her clothes looked torn up and dirty.. and where her right arm used to be was a stump covered in filthy bandages.

Mikoto ran over to her with Natsu in tow and kneeled down next to Hawk, touching her shoulder and shaking her awake.

"Hawk.. that's your name right!? HAWK!!"

Hawk opened her eyes wearily. "Th-the enemy... here to gloat about Mad Telepath's first loss?...well go on... I am no longer worthy to be called a mage..."

"Did you do this to yourself!?" Mikoto said with shock.

"No.." said Hawk. "When they kicked me out of my guild... they took all my money.. all my belongings.. everything I had... my Master claimed it was property of the guild..no less then I deserved.."

Mikoto heard a growl of intense fury escape from Natsu

"Tell me.." Natsu growled as flames began to flare off his skin. "Why the hell did they kick you out!?"

"I lost.." said Hawk simply. "Mad Telepath must never lose a one on one fight with an opponent, that is one of our many strict policies... otherwise we're weak, and weakness is not tolerated... and I am weak, I am nothing but a weak-"

Before Hawk could finish talking, she was stunned to find Mikoto hugging her, putting an hand on her head as she did... hugging Hawk in the same way as she would've hugged Little Lucy if she woke up from a nightmare crying.

"Whatever you said about yourself just now.. none of it is true." said Mikoto. "I don't want to hear any of it.. you understand?"

"Wh-what?" said Hawk, unable to understand why Mikoto was being so kind to her.

"Hey, Natsu." said Mikoto. "Could you get out your phone and call Mira or Master? We need to bring her back to the guild hall for medical attention.."

"I'll call Mira." said Natsu. "She's the only one who ever drives the Guild Bus... (Mira's sort of like a soccer mom now, using a bus that was bought through guild funding to drive the guild around. She actually rather enjoys driving, ever since she got her license.)

As Natsu dialed on his Charmander designed phone. Hawk could feel tears struggling to come out of her eyes. "Why... why are you doing this for me!?"

Mikoto smiled. "Both my mothers once told me that if there's somebody in need of a home and family.. somebody who hasn't know one all their life... who are we to keep denying them one?"
