That none shall ever know defeat, that is the policy of Mad Telepath. To never let the enemy win, to show no mercy.. to always give priority to the mission over the man on the mission. That is why Mad Telepath is the sole guild that has mastered Black Op jobs. During guild training, defeat by any enemy results in the harshest punishment. And the price for losing a battle event in the Power Developement Festival is harsher still, for it is important that we retain our reputation as the strongest, whatever the cost, and a loss in front of the world, will not be tolerated. No battle match has ever been lost by a single esper or mage of Mad Telepath. Be sure to remember that, lest the scorn of the Guild Master bequeath upon you the ultimate punishment  to regain that pride-

-Gene Tech Employee to Azure Saphire upon her joining of the guild at age 12.

Azure Saphire was walking through the vast facilities of the massive mall that surrounded Babel Stadium. At the moment, she was currently carrying out the mission that she and Rhode were assigned since a little bit before the Festival. (if you don't remember, they took the job during the prologue.)

The entire time, Rhode and Azure had been observing the Espada, they had left no opening, none whatsoever for them to see their intentions of entering the Festival, or a way to find out why they murdered that guild member from Head Fusion..  that was until Ulquiorra Cifer decided to take a walk in the Mall area during the 30 minutes between the 2nd and last match of the day.

There were already many things about the Espada that Azure found fishy to the max. Their powers were definitely not of Esper origin.. not with the way they all seemed to morph into some sort of freakish monsters when they called on the names of their swords. And it wasn't magic, Azure never sensed any sort of magic energy.. the new guild Soul Slayer was in the same category.

In fact, if Azure had to guess, the strange power they seemed to possess all seemed to be similar in origin to the strange mask she had once seen Mikoto wear the last time they fought.. she had gained an unusual power, becoming frighteningly fast and strong... however, just what was this power?

And there were even stranger rumors about the new guild. Ulquiorra, at any rate, seemed to act as their leader, but that couldn't be true. Guild Masters were not allowed to participate in the Festival, just like the Grand Magic Games. Nobody knew who the Espada's guild master was.

In any case, Azure would be finding out as much as she could right now.. she was currently following the one known as Ulquiorra. Which really wasn't that difficult.

Wherever he went, next to all the ordinary looking humans in the mall, his gray skin, and broken mask stuck out, as well as his clothing. Some of the tourists even avoided him, creating sort of a clear path wherever he went, making him easier to spot.

"So.." said Rhode's voice from Azure's earpiece. "He do anything interesting yet?"

"No." said Azure. "He's just walking around! ARRRRGGGHHH!!! So annoying!!! Is that all he's going to do!?"

"Calm down Azure.." said Rhode as static filled his voice. "Just make sure he doesn't see you and report anything you see.. "

With that Rhode's voice went silent and static was all Azure heard. Azure cursed and put the ear piece in her pocket.. she had forgotten that signals were limited in the Babel Stadium for security and monitoring purposes. You were supposed to register your phone with Academy City in order to unblock it, but those were still easily tracked.. and Azure wasn't sure what the Espada had up their sleeves technollogy wise.

Ulquiorra suddenly turned a corner. Feeling panicked that she might lose him, Azure ran quickly to the corner only to run straight into a young woman who was aparently shopping for souveniers.
