In the dark place known as the Nether World... Beleth sat within the darkness, nursing his wounds. "Hmm.. I underestimated that hollow form of hers again.. what a nuisance."
Behind Beleth, was a large creature with a wide gaping mouth. It had two red dots for eyes, and scaley rough skin. It's forearms were massive along with it's hands, and it's mouth looked like an endless gaping black abyss, from which a steady stream wind came. Xaphan, the demon said to fan and cool the very fires of Hell.
"You... need not worry.." Xaphan said with a hissing hurricane. "I shall go next... if we were to send Marchosias, that would be all too reckless...."
"Are you sure Xaphan?" said Beleth. "Baraqiel would also be suitable. And last I heard... Numensapien presences have been sensed around Mikoto Misaka..."
"It is already plain to me..." said Xaphan with a windy hissing voice. "That we won't be able to claim Railgun until the final assault when the Espada win the secret prize of the Power Developement Festival.. however... I can help pick off her friends.. one by one.. make it easier for us in the long run..."
"Then be my guest.." said Beleth. " I'm going to enjoy watching you make that puny girl squirm and cry.."

The nerves were high in the Fairy Tail end of the stadium. Everyone knew that since only guilds left who hadn't fought were Fairy Tail and Sabertooth, that would be the next match.
Mikoto could see the whole entertainment sense in it. The former strongest guild against the former second strongest guild. Something to bring back the nostalgia of those who had seen the old Grand Magic Games.
Many in the crowd were excited, some clamoring that it would be amazing if they pitted Mikoto against Orga Nanagear, to have a Thunder Dragon Slayer go against a Thunder God Slayer.
But of course, it was up to the scientists...And so far their calculations had been on the letter, picking the most entertaining matchups. Yammy the Number 0 Esapda against the Number 1 Esper... Mikoto actually felt that if Yammy had ever gotten the decency to think through a fight, he might have won, but of course, pit a genius with a lot of power against an idiot with a lot of power, and it tended to be the genius stood on top.
Of course, some would disagree, some would say instinct was a better way to fight, allowing reflexes and base battle reflexes to take over the body, so that instead of spending too much time thinking through a situation, you could fully smash your opponent before any sort of strategy your opponent planned could come into effect.
Mikoto felt it was a little bit of both plus a little more, a combination of brains, instinct, and heart. Of course, the brains part came from her experience as an esper, the instinct from overcoming her inner hollow, and heart from her time spent in Fairy Tail... her entire past had come together to form the unique way in which she fought.
This made her wonder though.. what made up Rhode and Azure's past? What defined the way they fought?
Mikoto's thoughts were interrupted by the giant screen levitating above the stadium. The next match was already being decided.
"Here it comes.." Mikoto said nervously.
Erza put a reassuring hand on Mikoto's shoulder. "Don't be too nervous.. and if they have you as the first matchup, I'm sure you'll do fine."
"Yeah.." said Mikoto, still feeling nervous.
suddenly the next matchup came up on the screen.
Touma Kamijou of Fairy Tail V.S. Rogue Cheney of Sabertooth.
