Guilt [Raiden x Reader]

   You were only a mere human and Raiden was a God. However, you never let that get in between the two of you. You loved him and he loved you, but he just couldn't help but feel guilty. You have a short lifespan and he was immortal. How could he do this to you?
   "Raiden?" you were looking for Raiden in the dead of night. You and the others were staying at the Shirai Ryu Fire Garden, at Master Hasashi's accommodation of course.
"Y/N," Raiden turns around to face you.
"Is everything alright?," you ask with a worried look on your face.
Raiden takes both of your hands and smiles, "Everything is just fine, my love."
You stare him and look for some kind of hidden truth. Did I forget to mention you had the power to read minds? Well, now you do!
"No it's not, Raiden," you say bluntly. "Tell me. What's on your mind?"
He smiles, "Did you read my mind again?"
"Maybe..." you smile sheepishly. You knew what was going on in his head. It's something you knew was going through his head constantly. You just wanted to hear it from him so you be there to comfort him in the end.
He leads you to a bench for the both of you to sit and watch the moon together. You lean against his shoulder, smile, and close your eyes.
"I simply feel guilty," Raiden begins to speak. "I understand that we've spoken about this multiple times, but it seems to always come back to me. I am Earthrealm's protector, I cannot be there for you in times of need and I am sure you are aware of our different lifespans. In the end, I cannot give you the perfect life."
"Oh, Raiden. We don't need to think about things like that when you know I'm always here with you," you cup his cheek so you could have him facing you. You could tell the burden of being a God, who is in love with a human, really bothered him. "Let us enjoy our time together. Let the future become the past."
He smiled that heartwarming smile of his and sweetly kissed your knuckles. You leaned in to kiss him under the moonlight, it was somewhat bitter sweet. After sharing a kiss you decided you need some rest.

After hearing about Raiden making Liu Kang a God, you figured you'd never see him again. That was until he appeared before you. However, he seemed different...
"R-Raiden?" you whisper in disbelief. " Is it really you?"
"Y/N," he smiled and seemed somewhat excited to see you. You grinned and ran up to hug him tightly. You gave him a quick peck on the lips, but a kiss none the less.
"I thought I was never going to see you again," you placed your chin over his shoulder so he could hear you clearly. "You look different..."
"Ah, yes. In order to make Liu Kang a God, I had to sacrifice my own abilities. In turn, I am now made a mortal," he stays silent until you pull away from him.
"You didn't do it because me, did you?" you look at him, waiting for an answer. He doesn't respond, instead he looks to the ground and back at you. "Raiden..."
"When I saw the opportunity, I took it. I want to be with you, Y/N. I am inclined to give you the life you deserve," Raiden kisses the top of your forehead and then your lips.
