The same woman who found me in the village had a sister who was a doctor. She was stitching up Gray. It turns out he had some internal damage and she had to operate on him.

I stood out the room pacing back and forth.

"He's gonna be okay, my sister is one of the best doctors."

"I know I know I know. Gray is stubborn he won't die that easily. No he won't die. He won't die. No he won't. He can't. I.." I dropped to my knees. "If he dies then it's my fault. It'll be all my fault," I said crying.

The woman came to my side, rubbing my back. "No it won't be your fault." I just cried some more.

The door opened and I scrambled to my feet.

"Is he okay?" The lady laughed.

"Yes he's just fine. The easiest surgery I've ever done. You can see him now if you'd like. He's not awake though. The anesthesia is still wearing off." I nodded quickly and walked into the room.

When I walked inside Gray was laying there, unconscious. I sat in the chair next to him and grabbed his hand.

"I'm sorry," I whispered. My eyes grew heavy.

I woke up with my hand intertwined with Gray's and my head in his lap. I sat up slowly and he was awake.

"Are you okay?" I asked him. He laughed at me

"Yeah I'm fine. That wasn't even a bad hit." He rolled his eyes and i snickered. "She said I could leave whenever I want so I just figured we could head back to the station."

I nodded and was quite.

5 hours later and we were back at the station. This time he sat next to me instead of across.

"How was your ten years away?" He asked silently.

"Dreadful," I responded quickly. He shot over looking at me. "I hated it. I hated being away from everyone. Ezra, Natsu, Mirajane. You. I knew it was worth it but it definitely didn't feel like it. Towards the end I wondered if I should even bother coming back."

"What?! Why wouldn't you?" He asked almost angry.

"I just. I don't know. Like. I really just left. With no explanation. Except for Gramps. I didn't even know if anyone even remembered me." I said keeping my head down.

"Y/N. There wasn't a day that went by that someone didn't mention you." I looked up at him. "Everyone missed you like crazy. You came up at least once a day. Everyone talked about you. Whenever Gramps was asked about it he said you would come back but never said anything else. Some people even ran off looking for you." My eyes widened at his last sentence.

"People...came looking...for me?" I choked out.

"Well," he scratched his head, "just one. He took off the day after you went missing and didn't come back for like three weeks." I just nodded in response. "When he came back he didn't eat much or sleep very well. It took him a long time for him to get back to going on jobs again. Natsu was the one who finally pulled him to a job. But he didn't give up on you."

"Who was it?" He looked at me a little dumbfounded and then took a breathe.

"Me."
