"What?!" I said, eyes wide.

"You just. You meant a lot to me. I liked picking fights with you. I always picked fights with Natsu before you came and it was nice to get along so well with a girl you know? Someone who wouldn't immediately kick my ass like Erza did," he said. "So thinking I lost you was extremely hard for me. I never thought I'd see you again. Natsu told me not to leave but I did anyways. I looked for you for a long time. When I came back everyone stared at me like they expected me to have found you. But I couldn't and I didn't want to give up but I started thinking maybe you didn't want to come back and I thought it was my fault and I was probably the last person you'd want to see." His head was low.

My heart clenched. I never thought he'd feel this way.

"You were the only person I wanted to see," I said whispering.

"What?" He asked, lifting his head. Should I tell him? No.

"I would've wanted to see you. I'm sorry. I was out in literally the middle of no where. I found this guy in a village and he took me out to this place. I honestly have no idea how to tell you to get there but I will never forget how to, I could walk there with my eyes closed. It was just me and him and his wife. They treated me like their child. They couldn't conceive so even though he took me in to teach me magic, his wife had no problem with it. Considering I was only eight, I'm sure it was like raising a child for them. They raised me into the person I am today. I even called her mom once , and then it kinda stuck. She cried the first couple times," I laughed, " and same with him when I got into the habit of calling him dad. They loved me like their daughter and disciplined me like their daughter. I don't regret leaving the guild for a while because I needed them and I think they needed me. But it hurt leaving them. But I told them I'd come back. She even said she wants to meet her grandchildren and my husband. If I ever find who will want me," I whispered the last part.

Gray didn't say anything.

"I couldn't understand it."

"What?" I asked.

"I couldn't understand why'd you leave. And Gramps. All he said was you'd come back. A couple months ago I...I told Gramps off. Because Elfman brought you up. Asking where you were and why you hadn't come back yet and he said the same thing, which was 'she will return'. But I didn't believe him anymore. And I told him it was wrong for him to give us false hope. Erza told me to stop talking to Gramps the way I was and if he said you were coming back then you were but. I didn't believe him anymore. Which is why when I saw you I. I didn't. I didn't know what to do."

"I'm sorry."

"I can't believe you didn't know magic," he said laughing and closing his eyes.

"Eh? It's not my fault," I said punching his arm.

"Ow! Hey when we get back to the guild we're gonna have to go for round two," he said smiling at me. I turned my head when I felt a blush coat my cheeks.

"Uh .. yeah. Ill beat you for sure this time," I said clenching my fist back in his face.
