"Are all the season endings as dramatic as that one?" I asked Misha bright and early on Friday morning. I'd finished the first season of Supernatural and was throughly enjoying it, despite being startled at the cliffhanger ending.
She laughed. "Oh, honey, it's just getting started."
I groaned. "Great."

"Cole!" Lee called.

I glanced over to where she, Ash, and Nevah had been debating something. "Yeah?"

"Is ketchup spicy?"

Confusion was inevitably written on my face. "No?"

"HA!" Lee pointed at Ashton. "Told you!"

I glanced at the two. "Wait, Ash. You think ketchup is spicy?"
"Well, yeah!"

I burst into laughter.

"It's not funny, Cole. Ketchup is spicy!"

I managed to choke down the last bit of my snickers. "No, it's not funny. Not at all. It's just... you're so white."

She frowned. "Don't."

I held up my hands. "Okay, I won't."

"Okay, that's set." I muttered to myself. I was working away on Luke's laptop, scheduling and planning while munching on a bowl of pretzels.
"What's set?" Luke asked, emerging from the bedroom. I'd heard punches; he'd been working out.
"A flight."
He gave me a confused smile. "Why? It's the school year, and you're going to up and leave?"
"No, idiot. It's set for over Christmas break."
"Oh. That makes more sense. Um, speaking of plans, I've got a question."
I turned and faced him fully now, and beckoned for him to come sit down. "Anything. What's up?"
He obliged, nervously walking over and sitting down next to me.

He took my hands in his.

His eyes were focused on them, the bone in my left thumb that had poked out a little more than normal since I was ten, the bruises on my knuckles.

He wouldn't meet my eyes.

"Luke, what's wrong?" I asked. This wasn't him; not this nervous, awkward boy in front of me that wouldn't meet my gaze.

He looked up suddenly. "Nothing's wrong. I- I just..."

"Hey. It's okay. Take your time."

And then he blurted it out.

"Cole, would you go to homecoming with me?"

I raised my eyebrows in surprise. "Or don't."

Well, that explained the nervousness.

"Well, I just, I don't know, but-"

I laughed and leaned forward to kiss him. "Of course."

I could feel him smiling through the kiss.
