Two days later, Jisung returned to The Grind to find that Minho already had Jisung's caramel frappuccino and an oreo frappuccino waiting on the counter.
"Oh?" Jisung teased, raising an eyebrow. "What if I wanted to try something new today?"
Minho smiled at Jisung. "As if. You're too predictable, Jisungie~"
Jisung rolled his eyes and paid for the drinks. He had a few minutes to spare today since Minho had already made his drinks.
"Hey," Minho said, taking the seat across from Jisung to talk to him, just like he'd been doing for the past couple of days. Minho has slowly been trying to get Jisung to open up. He still wanted to be Jisung's friend if he couldn't have Jisung's heart.
Still, nothing deterred him. "I'm pretty and you're cute," Minho said, grinning. "Together, we'd be pretty cute."
Jisung couldn't help but laugh. Hearing the sound made Minho giggle, too. For a second, Jisung felt a wave of deja vu. This felt familiar. Minho's laugh. The warm atmosphere. Jisung shrugged it off, wondering if he was getting sick.
"I'm trying out my cheesy pickup lines," Minho explained, staring at Jisung.
Jisung nodded. "Got any more?"
"Does that mean they're working?"
Jisung playfully shoved Minho. "Okay, okay. Are you my phone charger? Because without you, I'd die."
Minho was laughing now. "How about this one: Do you know what this shirt is made of?" He breathed between laughs and pointed at his own shirt. "Boyfriend material."
Jisung laughed along with Minho. Then, he checked his phone and noticed how late it was.
"Shit, I'm late now." Jisung said, standing up and slinging his backpack over his shoulder.
"Wait, before you leave," Minho interjected, standing in between Jisung and the door. "Did the pickup lines work?"
"You wish," Jisung teased, sticking out his tongue.
As he was turning the corner, he heard Minho yell, "You better put that tongue back where it came from, Han Jisung, or I won't be held accountable for my actions!"
Giggling to himself again, Minho slumped into the chair Jisung was sitting in, running his hand through his hair. He felt giddy.
---
"Oi, what's that on your cup?" Felix asked when Jisung took his seat next to him, late as per usual.
"Hm?" Jisung asked, seeing the writing on the cup that he hadn't noticed before.
A small message was scribbled on the cup.
Little hearts surrounded the words Call me, and were followed by, presumably, Minho's phone number.
Jisung chuckled, realizing that he was too absorbed in Minho's lame pickup lines that he hadn't even noticed that Minho had given him his number.
---
Once his shift was over, Minho walked home, a cigarette hanging from his mouth. Just before he got to his apartment complex, he put out the cigarette and went to his apartment.
He checked his phone, definitely not hoping for a text from Jisung because that would be ridiculous, right?
To Minho's dismay, there were, in fact, no messages from Jisung, or anyone, for that matter. Sighing, Minho tossed his phone on his bed and went in the kitchen to grab a snack. Just as he finished his tteokbokki, (bro tteokbokki is a spicy rice cake snack but it's literally so good) Minho's phone buzzed.
