"Excuse me, where can I find newborn clothes?"
"Back wall to the right Miss. Are you looking for anything in particular?"
"Maybe something unisex?"
"In the corner."
"Okay thank you." Rachel made her way to the back corner in search for a way to tell Ross they were having a baby. She had decided to tell him as soon as possible out of fear that Phoebe would definitely tell the others and he would find out before she would get the chance to tell him herself. Besides, she was way too excited to just act like everything is normal.
Rachel sifted through shelves a racks of baby toys and clothes before finding a white onesie with grey polka dots and black and pastel yellow lettering that read 'My Daddy loves me'. This is the one. He's gonna be so excited.~~~
Monica Geller was barely able to drag her feet up the stairs to her apartment. She had felt like utter crap. Well, utter crap was only one of the many, many things she was feeling. The emotion that surprised her the most was guilt. She felt guilty for all the times they had fought and she had told him she hated him, or that she wishes she didn't even have a brother. Sure they had each other's backs but they were still siblings after all; and siblings fight. Monica never wanted this to happen, not even to the kid who ripped the heads off her dolls, ratted her out to their parents, or even made fun of her weight. When she said she hated her brother, she meant she hated what he did. When she said she wanted him gone, she meant she just wanted him to go to his room. I never meant it, Ross.
"It's settled then, if it's a girl she'll name her 'Phoebe', after me, and if it's a boy she'll name him 'Joey'."
"What about 'Chandler'! It's a great name! Super masculine."
"We've been over this Chandler. 'Joey' is way better."
"Oh hey Mon!"
"Hey Monica!"
"Monica guess what?"
Monica looked at the three friends seated around her dining table, perfecting her 'everything is normal' mask. "What? And how did you guys get in?" She was in no way prepared for the news they were about to tell her.
"The door was unlocked and Rachel's pregnant!" Phoebe squealed.
"No fair I wanted to tell her!"
"I went to the appointment with her Joey!"
While the two bickered, Chandler noticed how Monica took a seat at her table without jumping for joy like the rest of them were. "Hey what's wrong? I'd thought you'd be more excited than that. You're gonna be an aunt!" Phoebe and Joey averted their attention towards Monica.
Phoebe gasped. "You're pregnant too huh?"
"And we just ruined your news!" Joey added.
Monica shook her head before bursting into tears. How are they going to handle this?
"Mon what's wrong?" Phoebe asked. The three looked at each other, concerned for their friend.
Monica was conflicted. Should I tell them? Just rip the band aid off, Mon. She knew very well it wasn't her news to tell. But she also knew her stubborn brother would just walk around acting like everything is fine and eventually Chandler and Joey would drag him off somewhere that would be dangerous to his condition. It was eating her alive. Will Ross get mad at me? She knew the answer to that question. It was a yes. But if there's something she's learned over the years, it's that she rather have her brother hate her forever than him completely gone. She looked up at them, still teary eyed. "Ross has cancer."
And the band-aid was ripped off.

Rachel happily made her way up the stairs to her boyfriend's apartment with her present in her hands. It was a rectangular box wrapped with pastel yellow wrapping paper and decorated with a big white bow. She was still completely oblivious to Ross's situation. Opening the door with her very own copy of his house key, she found him laying on the couch, fast asleep. It made her smile. She lowered herself so that she was face to face with him and gently caressed his cheek. "You're gonna be a daddy." Rachel whispered so softly that she could barely hear herself say it. She alternated between stroking his cheek and running her hands through his gel-free hair for two minutes before Ross opened his eyes. "Hey you." She whispered, louder this time.
"Hey sweetie." He smiled at her. I can't tell her yet.
"How are you feeling? Better?" They both sat up now and Rachel took a seat on the couch, next to him.
He nodded. "Yeah. My headache's gone. Guess it must be the medicine and Mon's soup." You need to tell her, Ross. Now! Before she finds out some other way!
"That's good."
"Rach listen I have to tell you something." He faced her. This is it.
Rachel sensed that something was wrong and her smile faded. "What is it?"
"Well it's uh— what's that?" His eye caught the yellow present on the coffee table.
"Oh it's for you!" Her smile returned as she reached over for the present. "But you had something to tell me first?"
"It's nothing." He shook his head.
"Ross..."
"Really. It's just that the doctor said I need two more days off work so I can recover faster."
Relief calmed Rachel down, allowing her to share her news. But still, she failed to detect his lie. "Here! Open it!"
Ross chuckled softly at her giddiness. "Thank you."
She watched his every movement, anticipating his reaction. She watched how he pulled on the tail of the ribbon and how he carefully tore the paper. Finally, he opened the box.
For the second time today, he was in complete shock. Hundreds of emotions washed over him, including worry. His mind briefly returned to the thing that's been bothering him all day. Cancer. One emotion, however, consumed him: happiness. This was his dream. Having a family with the girl of his dreams. For today at least, there was still sun after the rain. "Y-you're pregnant?"
She nodded. "Mhm. You're gonna be a dad."
He stood up, pulling her with him and taking her in his arms, lifting her up, and spinning her around causing her to giggle. When he finally set her down, he placed a hand over her stomach. "We're having a baby." Ross looked at her. "Oh my god we're having a baby! I gotta go call Mom!" He went over to the machine.
Rachel smiled. He's still a mama's boy. I hope our baby is like him. She was ecstatic that he was so happy. This baby is going to be so loved. However, something caught her eye that made here freeze and her smile faded away.
It was raining again.
